If you mean throughout the season than you're correct although Dirk would be in front of Parker but for playoffs Billups has been the best by far
there was no doubt that roy was the best player in the series. there is also no doubt that yao is the 2nd best player in the series. both players are far better than any else of the court at this point.
IMO, the only thing keeping Yao from being the best player on the court is Aaron Brooks. We can't stop him and our guys foul out trying to do so. It's like your point guards are secretly working for us.
i said before the series that one of the things that worried me on the rockets end for this series was that the blazers don't have anyone who can guard brooks on the perimeter. blake and sergio can't really guard him and i was worried that it would result in brooks completely getting away from yao. when brooks was making everything he shot, it wasn't a big deal but there's no excuse for brooks shooting 6-20 but yao only getting 12 shots.
yea but his value is so much more than his stats tell you. i liken him more to a PG in that he creates open looks for everyone else but he does it from the post and being 7'6". once agian eric, it's nice to have stats but you also have to watch the games and merge the two together to get the real story.
if those are the only numbers that matter to you, think what you want. it is very clear from watching the games that yao is the 2nd best player on the court(with roy being the best).
Yao's stats aren't the only way to measure his impact on the series. The extra attention we have have to pay to him on defense is what has led to Scola (and others) putting up numbers that you otherwise would not expect. Yao on the court means we can't play straight up defense. There's no question that he is the second best player on the court in this series. LMA, when on, has been fantastic - but Yao's very presence has had a huge impact.
Definitely. Imagine Houston without Yao. That's probably a 20 win team there. Seriously. Whose their center? Who do they go to for scoring? Luis Scola and Artest, I guess, which sounds about as good as a team built around Zach Randolph and Darius Miles. Imagine Portland without Roy or Aldridge. At worst, you're probably looking at 30 wins. Maybe 40 if Rudy or Oden or Outlaw picked up some of the slack with a much bigger role.

everyone hates scola because he's a rocket...if he was a blazer he would be praised and loved on here. amazing what wearing the other teams uni does for.
lol not entirely true.. a Blazer jersey doesnt make me like a guy.. It would make me wish he would succeed when he is on the court, but not make me like him. Hell I root for Channing Frye to succeed when he is in for us.. but I wont lose a second of sleep when he is gone.. sorry Channing just no place on this team for you.
Truth is that I really underrated Scola before this series. Yeah, he's had a lot of nice open shots because of Yao. But he's also put up some really nifty post moves on Aldridge that I never thought he'd get away with. And his midrange jumper has been absolute money in this series. He'd be a really nice backup for Portland. Hell, he's a pretty nice starter alongside a big center like Yao.
If Scola was our backup power forward the rest of the NBA would be in deep shit. As long as he was as effective a player off the bench. Right now I would Scola is Houston's most consistently good player. Yao is a bit fragile, Knee-Mac is a bitch and Artest wavers between awesome and awful from play to play.
