Still splitting hairs over ridiculous nonsense. There are very few QBs in college football today who could be realistically mentioned as having enjoyed the sort of success/production that he has this season. He's having a tremendous year for a college QB regardless of what year they're in. STOMP
Consistently in 3rd and Long against an Excellent D makes someone a mentally weak QB now and choke eh? Got it, thanks.
Yeah, overall, for a freshman he's had a most impressive year. PS- when are you goping to stop following me around with your nose up my ass? Just wondering.
I don't think that's what anyone said.... did I miss something? I believe the point is that both BP and I said that at some point this season the Ducks would take a loss because of their inexperienced QB. While obviously the game wasn't entirely on Mariota (DAT played like shit/Maldosucko), he definitely played his worst game yet as a Duck. He seemed to crumble under the pressure. Does that make him "mentally weak"? No. That makes him a freshman.
You didnt say that no This bothers me. And no its not because I'm some Mariota fan boy or anything. But you can put all time greats back there at QB and if the D is in his face before any long developing plays can happen, they arent gonna look very good. To me saying that he crumbled takes away from the excellent game the Stanford D played, and also speaks some to the Stubbornness Chip showed with some of the play calling. in an earlier post you said that Stanford was in his head. I didnt see him panic like a Freshman would. I think more than in his head, it had to do with Stanford being in his backfield.
Well, Like I said, it wasn't all on him. I'm not sure why Chip was so stubborn in his play calling. He just kept running the same plays over and over. With that said, I still think Mariota made some decisions that showed his inexperience. He was picked once, he should have been picked twice, and I have to wonder if maybe Chip was sticking with the run because Mariota wasn't having a stellar game.
Kelly got out-coached and must shoulder a big chunk of the blame. OTOH, great players make plays. Barner and DAT were invisible, and Mariota looked like a baby squirrel caught in the headlights of an approaching semi. I admit it - I have been caught up in the excitement too. This was a wake-up call. We have a *good* coach and players....nothing more. ND isn't a "great" team, and they beat Stanford in the same situation.
still don't get do you. Regardless of a kid's year in school, name 5 QBs from this season who've had at least as good a year as Marcus . Thats not my nose thats my foot, and I'm not really sure when I'm going to get tired of kicking your shit in. In an offseason How good will they be? thread I offered an opinion of how I've never been as optimistic about the Ducks as I was going into this year... I wasn't responding to anyone. I sited their talent and depth along the lines and that I saw big things ahead for Marcus who I thought could be special. You came back making it personal calling my thinking dilutional and myopic. For some reason self congratulations were in order too and so you commended yourself for "clear headed thinking" in predicting they'd struggle at WR, RB & of course QB. I'm fine with anyone respectfully disagreeing with me. But if instead they act like a condescending ass I'm going to remember it. If reality then reveals them to be completely wrong, I'm probably going to rub it in. That you continue giving MM half compliments (good for a Freshman) and still try to look down your nose and claim that you can judge talent better then anyone else here... STOMP
Stomp and I both agree that Mariota is an elite QB and I believe he'll win the Heisman by his junior year. If the two of us can agree on anything, I'd say it's safe to assume this kid can spin it! This weekend he'll make ya'll believers again!
Not sure about STOMP, but I'll stop when you end making ridiculous posts, and then pull out the "I played QB" card as if that means a flying fuck to anyone. Mariota is having arguably the greatest season as a QB in Oregon history, and you still refuse to budge from you silly critical posts from early this year. If you can't enjoy another 10-win season with a RS frosh at QB, I question why you even follow the Ducks as a fan.
