I would rather get Davis with 65 mils/5 years than Maggette with 50 mils/5 years. Although, Davis probably demand far higher than 13 mils per year from us... I guess we will find out in near future for the contract worth...
I understand a franchise not wanting to get stuck in the lurch, but can Maggette and Ellis even co-exist? Dont both guys need the ball?
Well, at the SG position Ellis plays pretty well often the ball. But obviously Maggette is going to be in there, so obviously that's not what's happening. So with Ellis as a PG and Maggette at the wing, yeah, I think there's going to be problems. If we keep out in the open court it'll limit it, but in a half court set we are going to be even more screwed than before.

It's not the offseason we'd hope for, but it's definitely better than saving all this cap space and years from now coming up with nothing to show for that amount of cash. We end up re-signing Biedrins and Ellis and we essentially lose our biggest year to make a FA splash. Mags is better than nothing. He's a player I wanted all along so I can't complain. 20 ppg scorers are hard to come by, especially the ones that tear it up at the foul line and do a decent job of the inside/outside scoring game. I think fans will like him, if they're not picky about his slow lateral movement or how he doesn't seem to pass. To me, there's a difference between how he plays versus Harrington plays and Harrington in that same light always seems to be a guy that never really passes. Harrington is a guy that settles for a lot of jumpers and doesn't seem to finish well. Mags is a pretty excellent finisher and because he looks to drive and get fouled, he wants to throw the ball up there so he can get the and1 possibility. So I think I'll give Mags the benefit of the doubt as the better passer because of his role and his assist numbers. Plus nearly 3 assists a game was what Jrich was at. I think I main concern will always be defense and turnovers... but at least the option to run, get better rebounding ability, and get consistent 20ppg is there. Monta Ellis + Mags can both rebound very well for their positions. When we add our true power forward and Biedrins to the mix, it'll be a much better control over the glass. Plus, we'll get more accurate volume scoring from the backcourt since we do a way with a lot of unnecessary chucking. Guys are looking to get fouled. This is great and free throw making ability is what makes guys like Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Arenas big name perimeter player stars. If we get two good players who do well in certain stats among the elite (Monta fg%, Mags ft attempts), that's good enough for me when it comes to 2nd tier players. Plus Harrington and Sjax could spread the floor very well when guys like Ellis and Mags are looking to drive. Let's just hope the playmaking is there and that guys know when to pull up avoid the traps. The Turiaf signing I can only explain as we needed an enforcer at some point in time. We need our Etan Thomas/Brian Grant/Kendrick Perkins type of dude that will go in there and wear down the other team's opposing bigs. If we got too many lightweights they ain't going to do much and they'll most likely appear to be too soft to mix it up inside. Biedrins has already lost most of his effectiveness (IMHO) because he weighed down from 245 to 225. He can't bang being that tall and being that skinny. He's not Kevin Garnett nor Chris Bosh nor Rasheed Wallace. He just doesn't have any balance or strength to play like a real post player anymore.
Looking at Maggette as a big time scorer, maybe he'll be okay, he's certainly better than Harrington offensively although I think Al plays/tries harder on defense. Turiaf is someone the W's have not had in a long time, someone to take up space. Turiaf can hit a J every now and then and hustles and rebounds. Hopefully he can be the W's Millsap.
