Hey man, random question. We're both from the NE area, we love the Red Sox and Celtics equally. Both of us have a favorite football team somewhere else (Miami for me, TB for you). I still like the Pats, despite that, yet you hate them. How can you hate on a local team?
At first it was just dislike. I've haven't been a football fan for nearly as long (it probably shows sometimes) as I've been a Sox or C's fan (pretty much life in both cases), and I just felt smothered by the Pats and all the airplay they got and the C's didn't. Even before they won the Super Bowls it was bad, my mom was a Pats fan, and my dad and stepmom are pretty much obsessed with them and my stepmom screams her ass off during playoff time if things going well for the Pats; very annoying. Then I started to follow football when I was 12, because I caught a random Bucs game, I dont remember the opponent but I do remember they dominated, and just thought damn, these guys are good, especially to their defense. So my Buc fanship got started through being a 2002 bandwagoner, but I hung on through the shitty years. Anyway, now that I had an actual NFL team I rooted for, I hated the Pats that much more because I just thought they were arrogant punks (still do). My dislike just erupted during the Spygate thing though. Hope we all enjoyed Jacoby's football memoirs. LOL
Am I somehow involved? I'm not worried. If there is such a thing as karma it can't fuck me anymore than it already has. I'm safe...
Not a very big blow at all, it isn't hard to hand a ball off and the Lucky Charms mascot could chuck a football to Randy Moss.
Art Shell disagrees. What would be the point of lying about it, in this instance? He's gone for the season, that's that. The only reason Belichick would have to try and deceive people about this would be if he just wanted to be a jackass (which I'm not sure he's too far above )
If the Cassell experiment doesn't work out (I don't think it will), I can see Randy Moss running halfassed routes for the rest of the season.
That's way overblown. For the most part Moss has flourished empirically with just about every QB (even Kerry Collins when Moss was healthy).
This is definitely a blow to the Pats season. However, I don't think their season is over. They play in a relatively weak division and have a mostly weak schedule. As long as Cassell can come in and manage the game, I don't see any reason why they can't go 10-6 or so. The team still has a ridiculous amount of talent, and with Welker and Moss at the WR slot, I can't imagine Cassell having that horrific of a season. Having Maroney in your backfield doesn't hurt either. I think they'll be (mostly) fine.
of course i wasn't happy when i saw the hit or heard the news he'd be out for the season but now that the shock has worn off i gotta admit i looking forward to watching how the pats recover from this.
