Some interesting numbers, assuming these teams join the Pac-10...

Pac-Whatever vs. SEC in recruiting according to Rivals.com by ranking (top 18):

    Pac
    #1 USC
    #3 Texas
    #7 Oklahoma
    #8 UCLA
    #11 California
    #13 Oregon
    #17 Texas A&M

    SEC
    #2 Florida
    #4 Auburn
    #5 Alabama
    #6 LSU
    #9 Tennessee
    #15 Georgia
    #18 Mississippi

    Rest of the nation
    #10 Florida State
    #12 Penn State
    #14 Notre Dame
    #16 Miami

Well, for what it's worth, the remaining teams from both conferences would look like:

    #24 SEC South Carolina
    #26 Pac Stanford
    #28 Pac Washington
    #31 Pac Oklahoma State
    #35 Pac Arizona State
    #37 Pac Arizona
    #38 SEC Mississippi State
    #41 Pac Texas Tech
    #44 Pac Oregon State
    #49 SEC Arkansas
    #50 SEC Kentucky
    #61 SEC Vanderbilt
    #66 Pac Colorado
    #90 Pac Washington State

The Pac would get through 12 teams on that list (the equivalent of the SEC) before the SEC could get their 9th. And if Texas A&M went to the SEC instead, Utah is ranked #32, Baylor is #39, Kansas is #55. Although after a certain point, these rankings become very subjective.

    What about Oregon vs. Oklahoma?

That is going to be fun! I can imagine a pretty heated rivalry starting there!

So after Boise St. went to the MWC, who is better, the MWC, Big East, or ACC? They are fighting for 4th after the 3 super conferences (Big 10 is arguable, but if they get ND then they will join the super conferences for sure).

MWC has BYU, TCU, Utah, BSU.

Why do you guys want all these power schools to join the Pac-10? I understand the credibility factor, but this just lowers the chances of the Ducks or Beavers chances in football and basketball.

The beavers football program has done more with less than anyone else in the country...

With Double TV money, they will do even better... they wont challenge for the pac 16, but they will be a solid team

    1. Each school will get 10-12 million more a year from tv revenue alone.
    2. It will increase recruiting footholds in Texas and Oklahoma, where some non-USC pac 10 schools have been recruiting with some good results (some very good three star prospects that Texas/Oklahoma/SEC looked over etc). Increasing the prestige of the conference only entices some of these recruits to come up here if their position is stacked at UT/OU.
    3. It'll be pretty much guaranteed, if there is a conference championship game, that the Pac-16 winner will be playing for the national title each year unless it's just a really down year.
    4. Fuck those east coast assholes that think the world revolves around them in every single fashion.

Increased competition and national exposure can only help the Northwest schools.

It only lowers their chances to win the conference, and at this stage in Oregon's development I'm more interested in a National Championship, and if anything this will improve their strength of schedule if they manage to win out. Plus the Pac-10 is working to get two automatic bids to BCS Bowls. That may or may not pan out, but I get the feeling that an "automatic" tag isn't going to matter much for a conference this big.

In a slightly unrelated area, the rumor is that the Pac will offer invites to at least the four schools who are saying they want to come. I think if the Pac is smart, they will actually invite only Texas first to protect themselves from Okie State and Texas Tech from jumping the gun and having the other two later changing their minds.

A&M to the SEC is looking more likely now

On a side note, it appears that TCU is going to try to dissuade the MWC from admitting Baylor. Apparently, they still hold a grudge about being shut out of the Big XII.

I will give the biggest LOL EVER if the PAC 10 manages to only get Colorado in all of this. It literally might be the single worst Big 12 school in terms of academics, athletics and ability to generate revenue

It looked to me like the Pac10 was grabbing Colorado to put them in a position where they couldn't be forced to take Baylor.

If we ended up with a Pac12 just adding Utah, I wonder how divisions would be setup? I would imagine you have North with UW, WSU, OR, ORST, Colorado, Utah?

Then south with Cali schools plus Arizona? Championship game to determine Pac10 winner?
