    1) Wright and Allen are crap, not decent.
    2) Kidd wants out and wants more money.
    3) Kidd is becoming older not younger.
    4) We need to rebuild and quite frankly, this will be the best deal we can get for Kidd. He becomes less valuable with each passing season.
    5) Harris is actually pretty good. His future is bright(though some overrate him too much)
    6) I believe it is two first round picks, picks we can use to move in order to get a better pick or in order to get other players(Miller)
    7) I have actually seen Diop play for the past 2 seasons, and he is nothing like Marc Jackson. Marc Jackson was a big body with only a decent jumpshot. He played no form of defense whatsoever. Diop is one of the two defensive anchors for Dallas. He is a good shotblocker and a decent rebounder. The only issues with him are his offense(at least he isnt Collins-Diop can actually carry his own weight and dunk the ball).

Will anyone in the league take Hassel? like hassel and a 2nd for like Pat Garrity.

I mean Hassel isnt that bad, he's a very good perimeter defender.

It's Kidd and a worthless hump for Harris, TWO first rounders, a first round pick who is a fringe prospect and at least $7M in future cap space. And, no, Thorn can't do better.

And how is Diop anything like Marc Jackson? I'd say he's almost exactly the opposite.
    </div>

... It's not 7M in future cap space. Kidd was coming off the books, while Hassell would still be on it. So he actually eats up 4M in space that goes towards the Luxury tax. With Carter, RJ, Harris & a resigned Krstic or whatever he can bring in a sign and trade? Perhaps Miller via trade? They won't have cleared enough cap to sign anyone.

Well, that's in 2009. They are already taking on Harris' salary and were willing to have Stackhouse on the books for that year.

They still have a lot of work to do if they are blowing it up. Maybe they aren't. I don't know.

I don't think they are blowing it up, at least not immediately. We'll know by the deadline. I suspect they want to see what the team looks like with Harris in place of Kidd and get a real, meaningful look at Marcus. I also expect to see Marcus and Harris used together a little since Harris could play the 2.

At the end of the season, they will have a better idea of whether they want to keep Marcus, and it at least gives them a chance to build his trade value back up since it has to be pretty low right now. And in all of this, they may still make the playoffs because the east is so crappy. That will be huge because it will test the mix under real pressure and give them a better idea which pieces work well together.

In the meantime, they have to make at least one minor move to deal with the roster.

I think Thorn wants to keep the team competitive and not Tank, now I see that Hassel isn't in the new trade, I guess the Mavs are signing Van Horn to more money so that Hassel wont be involved

ESPN keeps reporting that Stackhouse's contact in 2009 had a large buyout which would had put the Nets on the books only for 2M instead of Hassell's 4.

TNT reported a deal without Hassel now.

Did I hear that right? David Aldridge just reported at the game that Hassell is NOT part of the deal? It's Diop, Ager, Harris, and Van Horn.

If we managed to convince Cuban to replace George and Stackhouse with only Van Horn than this is officially the best deal we could have possibly gotten.

If Thorn did this without Hassel, that is a job well done.

Yep I just saw that. It's on the front page of SI.com. The deal is confirmed and Hassell IS part of it.
