Kind O/T Billy Knight(hawks GM) was on the radio and he said the hawks talked to the Nets about Jason kidd, but it would have taken 5-6 players to make the salaries work.
Multiple sources now reporting... Nets get Devin Harris, Desagana Diop, Mo Ager, Trenton Hassell, a re-signed Keith Van Horn, a first round pick in both 2008 and 2010 (with "light protections" says Kerber), a second round pick, $3 million in cash and a "large" trade exception (says Kerber). Mavs get Jason Kidd, Malik Allen, Antoine Wright and Darrell Armstrong. Watch that trade exception. It was engineered for a purpose. This is a better deal than the Grizz got for Gasol and about 10 times better than what Toronto got for Carter.

When players are traded w/ BYC status or PPP, they bring over a trade exception? So besides their lowered salary (that season), a TE? That doesn't seem right. -Petey

It's just a natural consequence of the huge differential in salaries between Kidd and the key player returning. Dallas had to find enough salary to send back to get over the threshhold, and that's what they did. The rest I'm sure the Nets are quite happy to have as an exception, which they may or may not use immediately.

Nets could also turn this into a three-way deal and ship Van Horn, Magloire, and one of Dallas' picks to Memphis for Mike Miller immediately.
