I watched Oden for the Heat a bit last season and I think Meyers would outplay him right now, and Meyers isn't very good
I hope so to but the guy loved to hang out in bars, clubs and strip joints. I would bet he made it rain a few times as well. So thats probably why he's still trying to play.
Wow, there's a lot of bitterness in this thread. GO came here a young, optimistic, fun-loving kid and after injury after injury his body wouldn't allow him to live up to the massive expectations we had for him. So what if he went out at night? Did his knees explode because he had a few drinks? Rehab is hard, boring and lonely. You're in a strange town and you're not really a part of the organization that brought you out here. Any of us would have done the same thing. His body can't handle the wear and tear of NBA basketball. Don't blame GO. By all accounts, he's a good guy. I wish he and Brandon had stayed healthy, but you can't always get what you want. I wish him nothing but the best.
Agreed. I've never felt any bitterness towards Oden himself. His body couldn't hold up; there's no way he preferred this state of affairs, where he ended up providing Portland with nothing. Just bad luck all around. If he can carve out a later-career role as a useful player, like Ilgauskas, I'd be happy for him.
This. There is also the small matter that the injuries that led to the 2nd and 3rd MF surgery did NOT occur playing basketball. Add that fact to his partying...and I seriously question what REALLY happened. People would like to believe Oden was just an innocent bystander to his own life. I am too cynical to buy it.
Why does this thread make me feel like I'm living Groundhog Day? It's amazing how people can hold grudges against someone for having a fragile body.
You guys are right we should bring back oden he could get the ball for MyLe during warmups. Maybe even hold his gatora_e
