<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post"> BTW...is that face that Damon is using in your avatar right after he took a hit? LMAO</div>Nah, I think it was after he hit a game winning shot. My quick thoughts, Lebron is a good ball player, especially for his young age. He is good for the game. He is over-hyped, he isn't worth all the hype. He could possibly live up to the hype in the future. Just my thoughts.
Who is hyping him? You can't say ESPN either because they only give people what they want to see. If you do not want to see him, you don't fall into the majority's opinion. No one has answered that question yet. I don't see anyone here saying that James will own the league, win 5 titles, 7 MVP's. Where are you getting this "hype" from? T-Mac is not winning, so he loses all of his credibility? I don't think so. (just an example)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post"> I'm not a hater, but technically he cannot shoot! He is shooting 41%, a percentage that Iverson is often critisized for. If Bron is going to be the top scorer on the team, he should improve that. </div> Improve his shooting? No way. You mean to tell me an 18 year old kid who is running an offense is shooting poorly? I never would have imagined. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Also, Lebron has not led his team by scoring. He has led his team IN scoring. They are a horrible basketball team and do not deserve the spot light. I understand that they are there becasue of ONE player, Lebron James. People want to see him play, so they are giving the fans what they want to see. I have no problem with that. But I think they have seen him enough on Primetime, I'd like to see some actual contenders play now.
The same can be said every year for the number one draft pick (or top rookie at that time) The cavs games have been very exciting this year, you are just looking at the record and making a judgement call. The majority of the games have all come down to the wire, and the scoring has been there. I know you would not like that if someone would question your Warriors the same way. No stress either way.

But judging by their record and the fact that they also play in the East, it wasn't that far-fetched. Sometimes I even question the Warriors. But the fact is that they haven't been about .500 this late in the season since the '93-'94 season or something like that. But that is neither here nor there. No stress bro.
I think Lebron made the list because ESPN & ms. Walters parent company ABC are both owned by Walt Disney. ESPN & ABC have a contract with the NBA for good amount of years so they have to keep people interested in Lebron James. Its another way the media forces viewers to stay interested in someone. They Keep showing it, so you will evenually get interested even if you really werent interested to start off with. Lebron is the NBA version of Beniffer or what ever they are called.
Iam not saying he is a scam. That would mean he isnt good. he is good but the NBA& national TV is force feeding him to the public.
I understand that to a point, but he was the number one pick, they have let up a whole lot in my opinion since the opening week.
I think we should look at the nature of the program itself. Walters is a newswoman. And her top ten 'interesting people,' though some may not find them so interesting, were all big newsmakers. Think back on the past year, and think of some people who got in the news for the right reasons(thus discounting Saddam, Michael Jackson, etc.). Of course California was big, so Ahnold made it, Kidman won an award, so she made it, Hillary has made talks of being vp, so she made it. And in May and June, Lebron was all over the news, not to mention November when he had arguably the finest two games to start a career. So yes, he was interesting, otherwise he would not have made the list.
Its amazing how this got off topic, this thread was simply about Lebron receiving a pointless award. Anyhow, both sides make valid points in the debate. Lebron may be overrated, but he has certainly answered the hype. Think about it, he has turned everything around in Cleveland. He is only 18 years old and he is running a team. He sells out arenas, his jerseys are a top seller, and his stats aren?t too shabby. His team hasn?t won many games, but you cant put full blame on Lebron. He can only do so much for his team. (Look at McGrady's situation.) You can't bash the guy for his shooting percentage either. The entire league has seen a decline in percentage and overall points scored. Keep in mind he is a rookie running his team. I won't say he is a great shooter, because he has his nights...but he makes up for it. When he has an off night, he looks to get his teammates involved. It's kind of pathetic to bash an 18 year old anyways. Ricky Davis was traded because Lebron needs to be surrounded by positive players. His attitude could have been a negative influence on James and that isn?t what the Cavs need. It was said best in this quote: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">"He just couldn't deal with LeBron," a Cleveland source said. "He will accept Paul Pierce being the man. But he couldn't do that with LeBron.""He just couldn't deal with LeBron," a Cleveland source said. "He will accept Paul Pierce being the man. But he couldn't do that with LeBron."</div> Link I'm just going to sit back and enjoy history in the making. Over-hyped or not, we have NEVER seen an NBA player at age 18 do the things he has done. He is taking the league over by storm and it couldn?t have come at a better time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post">Message boards are all about opinions. There is no need to put IMO in front of every statement, it would get tedious very quickly. Back on topic; do you guys feel that Lebron deserved this award? Why or why not?</div> I wouldn't really call it an award, but whatever you want to see it as, he deserved it. He has gotten all the hype, if you believe he didn't deserve this award, you are basically sayin he didn't get a lot of hype. Bron deserves this, no doubt... he gotten all the hype, all the media has been on him. Also Beyonce made that list

People should stop overhyping Lebron, & give him a chance to EARN the praise. IMO the media hype at the beginning of the season tore the team apart. The media scrutinized EVERY MOVE on made on the Cavs, & teams played 110% vs. Lebron every night, cuz they didnt want to be the ones who lost to Lebron. But the media has already gotten the clue. At the 1st Melo/Bron game, there were 300 media passes handed out. In the 2nd, there were only four. Lebron has to win to get publicity now. Hopefully he can develop in to a better player with out the harsh media eye looking at him 24/7.
Who called him great? All I have saw from media like ESPN when they promote the games are "See LeBron James" How is that saying he is great, a legend, all star, or anything of that nature? Again, no one is saying where they are getting this talk from.
