I would prefer Howard in NJ as opposed to LA, so if that's his point I agree. Either way we are not getting him. Brook Lyn will match for Brook Lo.
This seems the most realistic. But then it ties up our space for any potential "lopsided" deals for a few days. Not that we can't work on any potential deals in the mean time....
devils advocate here, but brook has higher career per game averages in EVERYTHING than hibbert EVERYTHING
I pointed this out in the playoff thread (Re: Hibbert's value/contract) but what vaulted his value into max territory was he absolutely beasted in the playoffs. Overall, the best defensive player in the playoffs resulted in a huge payday.
Just a quick (Nic Cage Crazy-go-nuts) note: Hasheem Thabeet has a better Win Shares per 48 than Brook Lopez (0.086 vs 0.051).
Marc Stein: ONLY Nets can give Lopez five-year max. So Nets surely asking Brook to be patient & as reward promising Year 5 cash if Dwight trade unravels about 12 minutes ago
Brook Lopez is soft, can't rebound, has stone hands, and is a bit of a pussy. What are you guys doing? He's not worth the max.
As discussed above, I think they're just trying to force the issue, clear some teams out of the market, and kinda force the Howard situation. A few different teams are trying to acquire Howard, and several have been mentioned as facilitators, so I could see teams holding back through this process. Frankly, people should be thanking the teams now offering deals to Lopez, as the Howard charade has gone on far too long. Anything that helps force the issue is commendable in my book. Blazers know that NJ will match Lopez. Did you not see the acquisition of Joe J.?
Not sure why the Blazers would want to sabotage the Nets' play for Howard. If they sign Lopez to an offer sheet, the Nets would almost certainly match, which would effectively end their pursuit of Howard. That would seem to me to put the Lakers in the driver's seat on a trade for Howard. I'd rather have him in the East.
