The Bills had a clear-cut need at cornerback heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, and they took a big step toward filling it Thursday night by selecting LSU’s Tre’Davious White.

They didn’t make the pick until late in the opening round as they pulled off a trade with Kansas City that netted the Bills the Chiefs’ third-round pick this year, and their first-rounder in 2018.

Still, despite dropping down 17 spots from their original place at No. 10, coach Sean McDermott feels very comfortable that the Bills landed a player who will come right in and compete for the starting job that is vacant after the free agent departure of Stephon Gilmore.
