Vintage- Remember not to underestimate how much that cap space is worth...If 11.5 million in cap space plus Marc Jackson can land Latrell Spreewell (A HUGE PR disaster in New York), then 14.5 million plus young talent like Battier and Watson plus a first rounder could land a pretty big name.
Latrell Spewell was traded because of problems long stemming. Name a superstar a team is having trouble with? No team will trade a superstar for that package. A quasi star? Sure. Abdur Rahim is the first to come to mind. But there is no way a team trades its superstar for that package.
I know that the Pietrus hype was a smokescreen for Wade ( I was the one who posted earlier that Memphis backed out of the Chi/Griz deal when Miami took Wad). However that does not mean that West didn't like Pietrus. It just means he liked Wade more. Also- Keep in mind that many teams in the West improved themselves this year. Someone has to get worse. Since Goldent State lost it's best player they are are prime canidate to be one of those teams. You are right that Mickael Pietrus was drafted by the Warriors for a reason- He was the best player available when they picked. They may not be sold on Jason Richardson but he has produced and shown he has the ability to be a starter in this league. Pietrus hasn't come close to that yet. But like I saide before- I would be surprised if West made a deal right now. He is the one holding most of the cards and teams often get a bit panicky and are willing to part with more around the trade deadline. Bottom line: West can afford to wait to make a deal and someone would have to put together a VERY convincing package to get him to pull the trigger before the all-star break- Marcus Fizer for Battier straight up is not that deal. This is my last post on this topic- Peace ya'll -rocko220 p.s. Vintage- You'll find I often add to my posts, sorry if its annoying but I'd rather edit than clog a topic with one or three sentance posts. Also, I never said that package would evoke a superstar- Please don't put words in my mouth.
Yes, West is holding the cards. And yes, he can wait to try to find a better deal. But the problem is two fold. Teams know he has a glut of wing players and needs a post player. Therefore, teams might not be willing to give up as much bec. West has a need....you know, try to take advantage of him. I wasn't saying it was annoying to edit it. I just wanted to respond to the latter half of the post, and in case someone else wasn't reading it, they could follow along with what I was doing.
