LOL I went through my whole series with SST's team not knowing I should be adjusting my lineup every day.
Nope, don't think I can. I did set the teams up with 15 players with the idea that carrying a couple extras would help in that situation. So, um... keep on truckin'
I'm really liking the Ben Gordon pick these days. He started for Detroit for the first time and they got their first win. He's given me 20+ points per game so far. Derek Rose is killing me with the turnovers. First week it was LeBron. Good company
I know this is the fantasy basketball thread, but I wanted to mention: Does anyone think we win against Detroit if they had continued to feed Gordon? I get the feeling they hadn't yet realized how explosive he can be as a scorer, because he was injured so much of last year. I'm not surprised they've moved him into the starting lineup.
My observation is that Detroit's problems have been more political than anything else. You don't sign a FA to replace a Rip Hamilton after all those ECF, Finals, and the championship. Well, at least Detroit's management wouldn't, and it's easy to respect that. On the other hand, Rip has been rather awful the past two seasons so a changing of the guard is due. Rip is averaging 12 PPG on 36% shooting and the team started out 0-5. He too was injured last season and it's not clear if he can come back all the way or that he's motivated to do so for a rebuilding team. Detroit couldn't give him away, either. To answer your question more directly, I didn't see that Detroit has designed any plays for Gordon. Most of his points against us were against our defensive SG types, but more Deng-like in opportunity (hey, I got the ball and I'm open!). At halftime, Thibs clearly told the team, "you have to stop gordon" and they stuck Deng on him and the result was a complete goose egg for Gordon. There were no screens set for Gordon, or screens off the ball and him moving to get open. Nor did Detroit even play Prince at the same time, who'd have had a pretty good time of things being guarded by any of the Bulls' SGs and if they took advantage of the mismatch. I didn't really like Detroit's substitution patterns, though they weren't really different from most teams, including the Bulls. They didn't stick with the hot hands at the start of Q3, basically starting the same unit that started the game. And Munro was a big part of their building a big lead and he didn't even play in the 2nd half. Anyhow, looking at my matchup page on Yahoo!, Gordon's given me .489 shooting, .846 FT%, 56 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals, a block, and 6 TO. That's 3 games.
Wow. That makes sense. It's amazing how when decisions are made for political reasons, a team can't sniff .500, which is really not that hard in the NBA. Minnesota seems to be making the same type of bizarre decisions with Kevin Love, and have also paid a price.
I remember reading a month or two ago that the Nuggets tried to deal for Rip and were turned down. Which seems crazy to me.
Just saw this thread. I'm happy with how my roster is panning out. Ironically, I'm in 2 leagues and after the drafts I liked the other team a lot better. Shows what I know.
This year has been horrible for me so far. not liking it at all. OJ mayo hasnt really been playing well for me, thinkin bout trading him
