Have you watched him play more than once? Not only did he look terrible at 'Cuse, he's been bombing his workouts -- at least he did in Boston. Think current-day Jamal Magloire.
Busts 1. The Soup Juggler 2. Jeremy Lamb 3. Myers Leonard 4. MKG Gems 1. Moe Harkless 2. Royce White 3. Jeff Taylor 4. Which ever of Terrence Ross, Jones III or Moultrie is picked outside 15 Honerable mention to Andrew Nicholson, Jeff Teague, Evan Fournier and Quincy Miller
Royce White was throwing Terrence Jones around like a ragdoll, even more impressive now knowing that Jones is 6'9" 255 lbs.
BUSTS: PG- Waiters SG- Beal (just not high on this guy) SF- Barnes PF- Sullinger (one leg shorter then the other ... ugh) C- Leonard GEMS: PG- Wroten SG- Cunningham SF- Barton PF- White C- O'Quinn
Yes, actually I watched the majority of Cuse games last year. Just look at how much better Cuse was last year when he played as opposed to when he didn't play. He should have stayed one more year in college, but he is a very solid defensive presence. He blocked/altered so many shots last year, good rebounder, plus I think once he gets comfortable in the NBA he can give you a solid 10 points a game.
Fab only averaged 7.8 ppg & 5.8 rpg. Those numbers are pretty underwhelming. 2.9 bpg is certainly nice though. I think he's a pretty big long shot.
Busts PG: Dion Waiters SG: Bradley Beal SF: Harrison Barnes PF: John Henson C: Anthony Davis Gems PG: Tyshawn Taylor SG: Moe Harkless SF: Jeff Taylor PF: Draymond Green C: Arnett Moultrie Second Rounders: PG: Scott Machado SG: Jared Cunningham SF: Kevin Murphy PF: JaMychal Green C: Miles Plumlee
Shows how much you know about the prospect you are labeling a bust... He is not a point guard, he is a SHOOTING GUARD.
There wasn't a PG I thought to be a bust in the lottery, and his profile of draft express lists him as a SG/PG. I could have put Beal there too, there's been talk about him trying to convert to PG.
IMHO, a team expects a top 11 pick to be good. Not necessarily hall of fame good or even all star good, but at least capable of being a 1-7 guy in the NBA. So I think "gem" is misplaced. I like to use the word gem for the surprises, the late first round and the second round picks, or even undrafted players, who become solid NBA players or even stars. The 90s Blazers had loads: Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth, Clifford Robinson come to mind. Currently Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Monta Ellis. There are others but I haven't had my caffeine yet.
Agreed. The intent of this thread was to name individuals that you think will be solid contributors that you expect to be drafted after 15 (Gems), or guys you think will be disappointments drafted in the first 11 (Busts).
Guys I want no part of in the top 15: PG/SG: Soup Juggler/J. Lamb SF: the Jones boys (in the lotto) PF: Sullinger C: Leonard Gems (outside of the lotto contributors): PG: Wroten (if not in the 2nd round) SG: Ross SF: either one of the Jones Boys (if after 15) PF: Royce White C: Zeller, if he's drafted as a more-athletic Joel at #15 or so. If not, maybe Moultrie. This one's tough. 2nd rounders?: PG: Wroten (if he's a first, then SG: Kim English or Will Barton SF: Crowder PF: O'Quinn C: Sims (longshot--Bernard James)
First of all, way to commit secondly, depending on how their workouts went, I wouldn't be devastated if the Blazers took either Jones at #11, assuming they had a pretty damn sure fire way to address the back court through the draft and or FA
I think that both Jones' (I like Perry's head better than Terrence's, but T's on-court game better--especially since PJ3 thinks he's Kevin Durant 2007 playing a 6'10 SG) risks are too high for 11. They could be great or they could be...not. I think TJ could end up as an uber-Odom if he gets his head right. I've seen him do things on the court against GOOD competition that make me shake my head. But I still can't get over his press conference and times I've seen him lose his mind on the court (not like Artest, though). At 11, ESPECIALLY if there's potential for a trade for someone like Evan Turner, I just think you need more stability in the pick, and I'd pick Ross over these guys.
It will be interesting to see. According to Amick, Golden State moved away from the Jones and are looking at Waiters as they weren't impressed by the Jones boys workouts. I'm not hearing much buzz about either one having good workouts either.
Will Barton is on my list of Gems also. The program that I wrote about and showed the results for in the forum "The Best Way To Predict the Future..." http://sportstwo.com/threads/215025-The-best-way-to-predict-the-future-.-.-. Barton came out as the #7 prospect.
