Derrick Byars, a former Ridgeway High and Vanderbilt standout, participated in a free-agent workout for Griz coaches and executives this morning in FedExForum. Byars is working out today because his schedule wont allow him to participate in the Grizzlies free-agent camp next week. The 6-7, 220-pound forward played with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League this past season. Byars, 25, hasn't been able to stick with an NBA team for a regular season since being taken in the second round of the 2007 draft. The Memphis Edge
Derrick Byars is a stud, I would love to see him make Memphis. I have always been a fan and thought he was jobbed after he was drafted by Philly, so he would be a nice pick-up for the Grizz off the bench.
