the west is open now.........he can still make it back in time for the post season (that's if the same thing doesn't repeat itself from last year), but even after returning he'll have to get back in game shape...................that sucks for the lakers.....

While I am upset about him missing Thursday's game, I'm glad he will be back for the playoffs.

well I actually didn't say anything about my rockets........the Spurs are legit, Denver is legit, and if Nawlins makes a trade like I'm thinking then they might be another team you have to worry about also.........don't be concerned about tmac's softness and injuries, because the lakers have plenty of that as well, lol

Man this sucks! I was feeling optimistic all day about the state of Andrew's injury. I should have known better. With that said this team is still very capable of beating anyone in any series. Im half excited to see how the new line up will respond. I hope they can find that groove that they were in last year with Odom in the starting line unit.

well moving Odom is definitely out of the question now since you will need his size............

Wasn't he supposed to return before the playoffs last year, too?

I've never really been in favor of moving Odom since last year. I sided with those who said they could not get equal value in return. He's definately not a cancer and I disagree with anyone who says the Lakers cant win a title with him. Boston's defense rattled every Laker in the finals. I know Lamar makes stupid decisions from time to time but he is still one of if not the most versitile players in the league. I think he fits well with this team.

i've been a big fan of Odom since his clipper days and I do think he can be a superstar if he put his mind to it, but with a healthy bynum I'd look to move him......but his value to this team definitely goes up now.......

Odom is too valuable now, there's no one comparable on the table we can realistically get. Or at least from what I know.

Yeah, well he needed surgery last year, but the staff wanted to see if he could recover without it, but failed. That's part of the reason why it took so long for him to come back, or at least that's what I heard.

I'm optimistic about this, giving the quick returns of Farmar and Odom this year. My guess is he'll come back in 9 weeks, which will give him plenty of time to get back into the swing of things before the postseason. Afterall, that is where we'll need him. Missing Bynum weakens us, but there's no way we shouldn't get the #1 seed in the west. After the Gasol trade last year, we lost a total of 5 games with him in the lineup. That shouldn't change this year.

    torn lateral meniscus.

Yoga boy. He was supposed to be out until after the allstar break.

    Bynum needs yoga.

I think we'll still win more than 57 games this year, we've got Pau for the entire year now.

Re: Andrew Bynum Injury Thread (Torn MCL: 8-12 weeks)

You guys shouldn't really panic though, just putting this out there. It's disappointing, but the season isn't over. The time table is exaggerated because Bynum doesn't need any pressure to return at a given time, like he had last year. I read he starts rehab in a week, he can put pressure on his knee, he can walk around here and there. This is by no means as bad as it was last year. 8-12 weeks could end up being 2 months or so, and the postseason doesn't start then. For anybody worried about him getting his timing back (Mamba), afterall, he took a while to get back into form before his injury this year. Keep in mind he was out for almost an entire year without competitive basketball at NBA level. When he returns from this injury, he'll need time to get adjusted, but by no means should he take nearly as long as he did this season.

The first round is just a "practice" round as well, it won't, or shouldn't be competitive, so Bynum can work there as well.

This feels more like Farmar's injury than Drew's first injury last year.

    John Ireland recap (from LG):

    - mood of Lakers shockingly up beat
    - Lakers think they are going to get Bynum back
    - Bynum is leading the charge of optimism.
    - Bynum is smiling and up beat
    - Lakers reealize that Bynum may not be like he was before the injury but just having him will help.
    - Lakers are invisioning Bynum back in the 1st Round or early.

Re: Andrew Bynum Injury Thread (Torn MCL: 8-12 weeks)

Last years' injury was much more severe, though. He dislocated the knee, bruised the bone, and I believe had some ligament damage. I remember he couldn't put any pressure on it what so ever last year. This year he said he could've walked on it if he wanted to, but the team wanted him to use the crutch.
