I could be wrong but I don't think there's a snowballs chance in hell Allen comes to Portland. We could only offer the vets min, and theres got to be another playoff team that can offer him more. Even if not I still would bet he'd go to Dallas/GSW over POR.

Always the same people. No patience and no appreciation of the impact of injuries and limited game time in affecting a player's development.

I'm alright with moving him in the right package in breaking the right player in to come off the bench.

But I think the unfortunate thing is that he was a player that was coming on before his fracture injury. Just like year one in which he had a set back due to his foot. This injury has set him back. I think he is a guy that can play. And play at a high level. But this team needs help and it could use it now.

Exactly! there is another thread on here that is titled "Leonard Crow Pie". How many on this thread were bashing Meyers. Now they wasted another thread to bash the next guy up. Then i get an answer like "12 mins is long enough"? In what world is 12 mins long enough to know what you have here? CJ McCollum has play a total of 281 mins in 23 games so far this season. When he gets to a thousand (which he has not yet reached in two seasons combined) then you start looking at what changes he can make to his game. The fact is it is way too early to make a call on CJ. Olshey knows this as well as Stotts. At the end of next season come on back and tell me i am wrong if i am, but until then this thread is a complete waste of time.

Psst... "Leonard Crow Pie" is not bashing Leonard. Maybe you should read it before you assume it's a bash thread

That's really the problem though. After watching him in NBDL and summer league, and then watching him against NBA competition, I'm not sure he's athletic enough to be really good in the NBA. He doesn't have a quick first step or a fast release like Dame. He's not big enough to overpower people like Wes. He dominates against lower competition because his overall lack of speed isn't as noticeable. The best comparison is like a runningback who dominates in college, but loses his edge when he gets to the NFL where linebackers and defensive ends are just as quick and twice as strong.

CJ=project player, basically a rookie tweener who hasn't recovered his confidence. Playing NBA defense is taking a lot out of his energy level on offense. He's just not looking like a 9 man rotation player this season. Seems like this is his year to learn NBA level defense and it'll probably take all season for him to get comfortable. Injury bugs have plagued him since he got here. I questioned his readiness early on. Good thing is, if he doesn't pan out he'll become a fine journalist

I think he was pointing out the fact that the reason there needs to be the eating crow thread is because of people acting like this. I could be wrong but that was the way I took it.

He wasn't supposed to be a project player. He was supposed to be NBA ready. When you draft a guy who went to college for four years, you expect he'll be able to contribute right away.

Exactly. His upside is limited. Don't even bring up Lillard. He's one in a million.

Well, Lillard AND Curry. I think Neil was hoping that CJ would be another Curry. The problem is that I just really don't think has the overall quickness to be effective at this level.

Like I said, injuries have plagued him from the start but you're right, we expected him to contribute right away. He's not horrible, but he's not Damian Lillard and I think folks kind of expected him to be just that. The draft is a crap shoot. Look at Wes...nobody thought he would have an NBA game and..he's starting on a winning team in the west

His draft combine numbers are comparable to Curry's and Dame's. 100th of a second better than Dame and 100th of a second worse then Curry.

Maybe he is injury prone or will be but would love to see a full season out of him before saying he doesn't have the quickness but I understand that message boards are just like people trying to break news on twitter. Always wanting to claim they were first stating something so they throw out things that could be true to hit one eventually that is. They want everyone to forget the ones that weren't correct.

I don't see it as a quickness problem with him. He plays somewhat slow on purpose like Roy did a times (I not saying CJ is half the player of Roy).

Damian and CJs combine measureables were uncannily similar. Their speed, agility, vericle jump tests, size.....but how they look on the court is much different.

There's a dif between doing a drill and performing explosive basketball moves.

How can you not bring up Lillard when both guys were 4 year small school guys but CJ was not picked at the 6 spot either. TRob is probably the biggest disappointment from a draft standpoint.

He has been injured, that's true, but based on what I've seen him do against lower level competition, and then what he can do against the pros, I am concerned.
