Bottom of the bench is still bottom of the bench. CJ has slipped into that role

    You think so?

A lot of that draft has been disappointing.

    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist drafted #2.

    Dion Waiters drafted #4.

    Thomas Robinson drafted #5.

    Harrison Barnes drafted #7.

    Austin Rivers drafted #10.

That's five guys drafted in the top 10 who haven't really been anywhere near as good as they were supposed to be.

If I rank them from worst busts to just disappointing then it would be:

    1. Rivers
    2. TRob
    3. Waiters
    4. Kid-Gilchrist
    5. Barnes

I could buy this argument, thought I don't quite agree (too soon to tell), but that's way different than saying he's at the peak if his polish bc of 4 years in college and can't improve.

You can disagree with me, and you can post facts to backup your claim, but was that last part even remotely necessary to the discussion? I really don't understand why people can't just debate a topic without adding something personal at the end. It's completely uncalled for.

Wow, really? That was too personal compared to the crap that goes on in here?

I am going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I wasn't singling you out at all.

And I did post facts. Posted how his combine numbers were virtual identical to his counterparts.

And that was my point. Why couldn't you just leave it at that? You posted some facts to backup your opinion and that was all you needed. You quoted me so that's pretty much singling me out. I've held this opinion on CJ since last season :dunno:

I guess I should have broke it up into two different posts. I quoted you for the numbers portion but read it again and other then quoting you I was not singling you out at all. As I said, agree to disagree. No worries though.

My opinion isn't really quantifiable. Just watching him play against guys in the NBDL, he could pretty much get to the rim at will and finish. In the pros he hasn't been able to get that kind of penetration, firstly, but he also doesn't have to contend with the kind of rim protection in the NBDL that he faces in the pros. Like I said in another post, it reminds me of a dominant back in college football, like LaMichael James, not being able to transition to the pros.

Maybe you should read my comment before you comment. I know it does not bash him. That's my point exactly!

People have suggested we trade the following players this year that are on your list:
    Lance Stephenson
    Danny Granger
    Kyle Singer
    Matthew Dellavedova

Not to mentioned CJ isn't even close to the worst PER on the team. Too many current Blazer's on your list as well.

CJ will be here next season. If he plays an entire NBA season and can play well enough to stay on the court, he'll contribute. That's a lot of ifs but I don't think Stotts wants to lose any games for purpose of player development this year. I expect him to be a garbage time guy all year. Crabbe took his spot early on after CJ took Will's spot. Our bench is not horrible.

He's not even in the bottom third of the team. Paul Allen teams are often deep, so players develop slowly. Spending a lot has its costs.

I can't remember a Blazer coach who's tweaked the lineups as much as Stotts has this season though. It's a competitive bench and that will only increase when Rolo and Freeland come back

I'm not seeing a lot of difference between CJ and Nolan Smith right now.
