This. Except Mo's "defense" is horrible, as are his turnovers. I'm as disappointed in Wright as the next guy, but put Wright next to a point guard and I believe his effectiveness goes up. I doubt CJ fairs particularly well playing next to Mo either. I'd rather see CJ backup Wes and play next to Lillard.
Anyone have a link that shows the Blazer's ORtg and DRtg while Mo is in the game? The eye test says they're horrific, but I'd like the statistical proof.
I think the advanced stats are poor for every group except our starting 5. I found some stats on 82games although it appears they are only updated through the first 25 games. When Mo is on the court we allow 110.1 points per 100 possessions. When he is off the court we allow 103.3. The offense is scoring 110.1 when Mo is on the court, but 119.2 when he is off the court. So the offense is 9.1 points per 100 possessions worse when Mo is in the game, the defense is 6.8 points worse when Mo is in the game. Combined that and the team is 15.9 points better with Mo on the bench.
http://www.82games.com/1314/1314POR2.HTM So looking at the best 5 man lineups, our second most common group is the starters with Mo in place of Lillard. The defense is excellent with this group, allowing only 91 points per 100 possessions. That group is outscoring opponents by 20 points per 100 possessions, which is 6 better than our starters. TRob had horrific stats in the units he was a part of, all of which included Williams.
I attempted to end the debate about where CJs minutes should go in this thread: http://sportstwo.com/threads/253908-Players-after-30-games
as much as i'd like to see CJ on the court he has to earn his minutes and as much as other people haven't been good that doesn't mean a rookie who is coming off injury is going to get their minutes.
Don't know how accurate this is. 82games indicates that only 1/6 of Wright's shots occur with 4 or fewer seconds on the shot clock, and 2/3 come in the first 15 seconds.
CJ Update 12/30 (http://forwardcenter.net/no-set-dat...but-guard-says-hopefully-we-can-get-one-soon/ ):
I'd love for him to play a game or two in the D-Leauge to get him back in the rhythm and boost his confidence!
I really want to see this kid play. I'm not sure what is but I have this full Mags type of pure blind homer that he is going to be good. Real good. And a great fit for this team.
