<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>So you are in the middle on this. You don't think Webber's great or he sucks.</div>I think this deserves a no sh*t response. He's obviously not great and I don't think he sucks. I mean did you not read the article, it said low minutes. So if Webber was unwilling, than he would not be a Mav. This is of course talking about him possibly coming in, and if he were. He would know that he would not get a lot of minutes. That's my point and I think it's a low risk/high reward pickup for a decent backup 4.

Well I would be shocked if Webber agrees to this but if he does than not a bad deal. Just because he put our name on there doesn't mean anything. My guess is he takes the team that gives him the most minutes of the teams he mentioned. The article even says he won't likely pick us because of that. Hopefully we don't offer him more minutes.

Besides it's on every Mav forum and Avery/Donnie commented on it saying they were interested. So there was more than just Webber putting our name out.

I agree with Rok, basically. It's very low risk here. If he sucks, I can't imagine him doing too much damage. Yeah, the guy isn't necessarily the first one you think of when it comes to class, but I don't know that "cancer" is a fair term. Philly (as far as basketball goes) is a shithole. It's one of the worst teams in the NBA. I honestly think AI improved by leaps and bounds with his attitude as his career has progressed, but even he had to leave. Maybe I just don't have a great amount of knowledge about the guy. I'm sure he's not perfect or even close, but he isn't as bad as people act.If you are Philly, he is an absolutely awful player to have. There is no way that he should be a first or second option on any team in this league, which is what he wanted to be apparently. But if he came to Dallas AS A BENCH PLAYER, which is how it sounds, he could be incredible. Even if someone got injured, he would be a great fill-in.Basically, everything has been said. But still.

I have to reinforce what Rok and pj have said. It's very low risk/possible high reward with Webber. He would be a legitimate backup 4, one of the best backup PF's in the league, bring an offensive spark off the bench, and will help the team pass in a half court offense. The few things I think the Mavs still struggle at, is scoring on the low post, and passing out of the low post...something Webber does well, and is basically known for. Also I think our bench is deep and talented, but if Stack doesn't outscore the other teams bench, then they struggle some times...this will help.I don't see the downside in this really. The Salim rumor is actually more exciting, since he's younger, and could provide a great role on the Mavs for years to come.

I have a hard time believing that Webber will help any team at this point in his career. He's old, injury prone, and will probably want a lot of money.

^As a 7th or 8th option, he could still help, if his knees hold out.Once agian...it's wouldn't be a terrible addition, for ANY team, unless they expected him to be a starter or the #1 guy off the bench, lol.

It's more of a low risk/low reward deal but it's not going to make or break this team unless Webber wants more minutes and causes problems in the lockeroom.
