So Camby will probably be unavailable tonight, and probably suit up against Boston? Should be weird if Blake and Outlaw are sitting on the other side of the arena tonight.
Just need to get the league to approve the trade, players to pass their physicals (likely waived in Outlaw's case) and get some jerseys made. It would be weird to see Camby in a Blazers uni, Blake in a Clipps jersey and Outlaw sitting behind the "wrong" bench tonight. BNM
Awesome! Another great thing is that guys who come to Portland, even against their will, tend to really like it here. A guy like Camby who really seems to hate change may finish off the season with a really, really positive impression of Blazers management, the team, and the city. It makes us at least in the running for his services next year when he'll be 36 and likely looking at just making the final years of his career last, which he could do backing up Aldridge and Oden/Przybilla. It certainly doesn't sound like the Clippers are an option for him anymore. Yeah, he's something of a stat whore under the rim. But we've got a really good help defender in Batum who can see the play develop and rotate over to block out Camby's man when Camby goes for the block. Between Batum, Aldridge and Camby, there are going to be a thicket of long arms between the ball and the hoop. And we haven't even really talked much about what this means for Bayless. No more looking over your shoulder for the quick hook, JB, because 27 mpg of guard play just got freed up! I'm a little disappointed the Tyrus Thomas deal is dead. I was kind of warming to that one. But I'm not nearly so disappointed that I'm going to complain about getting Camby!
There is no downside to this deal, and it fills the obvious need the Blazers have right now. Well done, Pritchard. Even if Camby doesn't lead the team to the playoffs, this was the absolute best deal for the team right now, as well as for the future. Assuming Przybilla and Oden return next year, of course.
I have to say I am mighty surprised KP pulled a mid season trade, and to top it off that Blake and Travis had been included. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that they would unfortunately, be Blazers for ever. I have to give KP some good kudos here. I have been hard on him for a long time, and he pulled out a trade that gives us some hope for this season. I am also hopefull that some of Camby's veteran skills can rub off on the youngsters. He has a ton of playoff/finals experience and will be very valuable in his short time here.
Holy Crap, I can't believe we're moving Blake and Outlaw. Wow. I guess that frees up PG more for Bayless/Andre, and gives the forward position a much needed unjam.
Flip. Flop. Flip. Amazing you would call Maxiep out for being negative. Well, Mix, you are right about one thing....Rudy sucks! E-Blazer....could you serve up a few plates of that crow you've been keeping warm? Go Blazers
I suppose. I kind of hope we don't, though. I'm usually pretty cold about personnel moves. I just want the best players on my team. But after everything he's been through, I'd like to see Joel make a comeback with the Blazers. I'll take a healthy Joel over a healthy Thomas any day. Now, it's extremely questionable Joel will ever return to full health, but given his history I'll roll the dice on that one.
