What are the chances we could re-sign Camby after this season though? I'd rather have Marcus Camby over Joel honestly. If we could swing a Joel-for-Thomas trade, I would feel very good about our front court for years to come. Aldridge, Thomas, Camby, and Oden. That's an insane group of players, each one long, athletic, and able to control the paint (except aldridge haha).
I am very depressed today. Travis is our family favorite. However I do understand the trade and it makes a bunch of sense. Batum and Cunningham have been impressive so Travis could easily become odd man out. His injury came at the worst time in his career.
the bulls are absolutely not trading for joel unless and until he opts out, which isn't gonna happen.
Well, with both Camby and Joel you have to worry about shelf life. Both are on a countdown to injury, but at least Joel doesn't have age constrictions. In another year Camby will be one of the oldest players in the NBA. He's playing great now, but he's also playing with house money. He does not have more than two years left in his career (at least being really productive). Joel might have a lot more. (And yeah, that's a pretty big "might"). Ideally (for me), Camby re-signs here on a 1 year deal (with an additional 1 year team option), Oden fully recovers and Przybilla fully recovers. I guess if all those things aren't all going to happen (seems a little unlikely, when I put it that way) going after Thomas is still a smart move.
What was the point in trading Thomas in the first place? He's an expiring. I suspect they might do it if we were to throw in Rudy and a draft pick.
I thought it was because the Bulls had decided that they wanted to move forward with the PF they drafted this year, Taj Gibson. It's kind of funny, because Thomas is in the doghouse, much like Yoaquim Noah was, but now Noah is playing great. Sometimes a player in the doghouse if a player waiting to be "set loose".
they dont plan on resigning him, and wanted to get something for him before he walked. i heard a 1st and a similar expiring.
STEIN_LINE_HQ Clips and Blazers are on the Camby trade call now, sources say Marc Stein's twitter feed.
What relevance do cap holds have until the free agency period in the off-season anyway? By which time, they can simply renounce Thomas and rid themselves of his cap hold.

7 pts, 12 rebounds and almost 2 blocks per game incoming. Does this mean now that Blake is gone, we can actually run on the break?
