Yeah, Sheed would cause him some trouble...but I still think Dirk would get the advantage more than Sheed in most cases. The thing that would decide that series is Billups/Hamilton/Prince on Harris/Terry/Howard...that's where that series would be decided in my eye.Diop/Dampier and Big Ben would really cancel each other out, as all 3 aren't great offensive options, and all 3 are good defensively, and I still believe Dirk get's his averages.
No. Because he is too quick, and he stretches out the big man defenders too much that they can not usually guard him, unless it is someone like Rasheed Wallace. But usually, they send wing players to guard him on the perimeter. Well guess what? Dirk is 7"0. He has a huge height advantage on all wing players so it is easier for him to shoot over them. Also against anyone, he can just as easily blow past them for a running jumper or he can get to the stripes or a layup.'So generally the answer is No. But Rasheed does a pretty good job. Also Shawn Marion.
Shawn Marion isn't even guarding Dirk that much anymore. Josh Howard has changed this whole series around by forcing Phoenix to put Marion on Howard. Dirk has the speed advantage over Tim Thomas though Thomas is stronger and bigger. Dirk probably is most effective at the 3 point line against Tim Thomas though he can take him off the dribble as well. Bruce Bowen to me is the best defender but he gets abused on boards and Dirk still gets his 30 points.
Shawn Marion hasn't done a decent job, which is part of the reason he's been switched on to him.Look, this all started because last year, there were only a handful of guys that could give him trouble. Mainly, TMac, Marion, Bowen...and maybe Sheed. The guy has developed into a much better player, and has learned how to play against the long, quick, athletic guys, that are close to his height...So the answer is no, not if Dirk's shot is falling. And even if it isn't, he has shown the ability to become a damn good post player as well.
I don't think anyone can guard him that well. He can be guardly but, not greatly due to his size at his position. If Dirk and the Heat play against each other. I would like to see who they are going to put on him.
You better hope it isn't Haslim, who's Dirk's abused everytime they put put him to guard the German.Maybe Toine'...but he's not a very good defender either...I just don't know.
