Clippers are 8-12 vs +.500 teams Mavs are 8-16 vs +.500 teams Rockets are 8-14 vs +.500 teams So it's not like we are THAT far behind them.
1st seed. It's only a matter of time before Curry's ankles blow up and Draymond Green gets caught blowing a homeless guy behind a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco.
It's not impossible to get to the middle of the pack...I think the Mavs, Clips and Rockets could easily fall apart 2nd half of the season.
very best case scenario would be getting the 5th seed ahead of MEM, DAL and HOU. To think, if Randolph didn't get that putback and Brewer didn't hit that prayer.
The reality is that there are only 4 really good teams in the West and 4 in the East. Neither Dallas nor Houston are really that good.
4 really good teams in West: Warriors, Spurs, Thunder, Blazers 1 really good team in East: Cavaliers I don't want to hear about the Raptors. Get back to me when they win a playoff series.
Rockets lose their 3rd straight tonight. Blazers within 2 games of 7th seed. Rockets schedule up to the all-star break: MIA (26-21), @PHX (14-31), POR (22-26), @GSW (43-4), @POR (22-26). Blazers schedule up to the all-star break: MIN (14-34), MIL (20-29), TOR (32-15), @HOU (25-25), @MEM (28-20), HOU (25-25). The second game against Houston, the Rockets will be on a back-to-back on the road following a game against the Warriors. Good opportunity for the Blazers to pick up a win there. If the Blazers can keep up the energy that we've see over the past few games, they'll have that 7th seed by the all-star break!
- Clippers are thinking about blowin it up. - Rivers is an idiot. - Griffin is an Olshey guy. We're getting Blake Griffin! fams.
The factors that lead one to suggest that any of them could really fall apart down the stretch don't apply to us. They are all teams that seem weak minded, are underachieving and experiencing inner turmoil. We are overachieving and displaying excellent chemistry and growth. Vastly different scenarios.
Portland's easier portion of the schedule is coming to an end. Let's see how they do with the tougher opponents and more road games coming up. If they can climb above .500 and stay there and beat an occasional +.500 team both at home and on the road, that will show real signs of growth.
At this point, I'm starting to wonder if Neil did too good of a job. Our young guys are progressing faster than I thought they would. CJ Crabbe Plumlee Davis Those are all solid players that would easily be in any team's rotation. Aminu is okay, and he has decent games, but I would feel a lot better with him coming off the bench instead of starting. I think small forward needs to be our target. I would give up quite a lot to get Paul George. Supposedly Gay is on the block, but that guy is just not the droid we're looking for.
Later in the season, we'll be playing teams that are disheartened, dinged up, playing for contracts, and resting their stars for the playoffs. The Bulls, especially under Skiles, ended up with better records than expected by beating up on those teams in Feb/March. They do have to play the games to determine the winner.
