    well that's a new name.

I'm sure the league has a list of rich people who are interested already.

My ask for the new owner:

    - Don't be embattled in any scandal.
    - Hire the right people, delegate, and step back.
    - Care about winning.

He would be part of a group.

He doesn’t have the money to buy by himself.

Google says his net worth is ~600 mil. Most of these new ownership groups are by committee, and I don't really see that as an issue. Also... interesting find:

Again... grain of salt given the author.

A sitting team president of an NBA franchise told me it’s unlikely that the league’s owners would allow the Trail Blazers to relocate to Seattle after a potential sale. “That’s a no-go,” he said. The prevailing sentiment is that Seattle and Las Vegas have already been unofficially earmarked for NBA expansion and the current owners would prefer to avoid cannibalizing what would be a windfall of $6 billion in combined expansion fees.

    • Bert Kolde, the vice chair of the Blazers, has been put in charge of the auction of the late Allen’s beloved NBA franchise. Kolde is said to be closely following the auction of the NFL’s Denver Broncos that began in February. Kolde’s target price for the NBA franchise: $3 billion. The Blazers were valued at $1.7 billion when Allen died.

A number of potential ownership groups have been rumored to be interested in pursuing the Trail Blazers. Among the names that I have heard as possible majority owners: Oracle Corporation co-founder Larry Ellison and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. Ellison has unsuccessfully attempted to buy NBA teams on three occasions. Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Ellison is a predictable possible bidder. He missed on the Warriors, Grizzlies and Pelicans, after all. But the emergence of Scott as a potential professional sports-franchise owner raised some eyebrows. Scott, 52, has a net worth of more than $33 billion. She hasn’t publicly expressed interest in buying an NBA team. She’s spent her time and money on a number of philanthropic endeavors in the last year. But insiders tell me they believe NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the league’s owners would welcome the addition of a high-profile female majority owner.

Ellison would be amazing in my mind. Dude REALLY wants an NBA team, and really got screwed out of the Warriors deal. I think he'd be someone like Balmer. And I really like the idea of single owner rather than multiple people owning minority stakes.

I have no idea about anything re: Scott, outside of her separation from Bezos. Surprised to even get a whiff of her being potentially interested in an NBA team.

I think we can all agree that Canzano as a reporter sucks .. HOWEVER

I do think the basic idea that the Blazers are going to be sold off in the next year or 2 or sooner is not exactly breaking news the truth is i am surprised it has taken this long for it to happen.

Hello. What are the odds of a new owner seeking a relocation?

I kinda wonder if nothing significant will happen until ownership is settled. Still surprised they gave Cronin 4 years while they're trying to sell the team.

prolly got him at a discount so the length of the deal is fairly irrelevant.

more telling is them not hiring a POBO above him.
