Comeon, it would have to be CJ, Nurk, Zack, and an unprotected 1st, and that still wouldn't do it.

    Honest question here....

If 3 picks were such a good offer for PG13, why didn't Portland trade CJ and keep the picks for themselves?

PG13 was/is much better than CJ. Portland 'could have' had Mitchell & Kuzma to go along with PG13.

The premise that the picks were a good offer, but CJ was too valuable to offer just doesn't make sense to me.

Do you really think it would take that much? I don't see any other team making nearly that good of a deal in terms of production + potential at least so far in any of rumored proposals.

Someone needs to take Clown hostage. Preferably, someone from a distant land.

Well personally that sounds great. If we had Dame, Mitchell, PG13, and Nurk right now we'd be sitting pretty damn good. I was a big advocate of taking Mitchell when we traded up to 10 so you're preaching to the choir here.

Keep in mind though we were just coming off the Nurk fever stretch that made it seem we were once again further along with the current core than it was.

It's a shame that ESPN is dictating where he will end up playing without asking him where he wants to play.

What if they added Mirotic? They'd have to add something if we gave em Nurk as well.

That is a ridiculous core to build around. Two top 10 guys and a bunch of shooters? We'd still become the second best team in the west.

He didn’t sign Pippen as a FA. But KA and BG would represent some of the best FA signings in our franchise’s history.

I'm neither pro/anti Canzano, but I read it a bit differently. I see as Canzano challenging Olshey. Olshey has yet to swing really big and connect, and, unfortunately, it's needed. Here's a potential opportunity, see if you can prove me wrong. If Olshey miraculously pulls it off, I don't doubt Canzano will write a follow up article congratulating him. I don't think he's that bitter in life yet, he still chases good feel stories. No doubt, he'll probably give himself a little credit for goading Olshey if it happens, and, no doubt, dump on Olshey harder if he doesn't.

You’re right and it was pointed out he traded for Pippen. Not sure what I was thinking when I said that. I liked BG and KA, but signing pretty good players isnt anything like signing a superstar.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Maybe I'm alone, but I don't mind being on the perceived worse end of a deal if I'm getting the best player in the deal. I'd have to think a little harder if I already had a good team with solid chemistry and upsetting those components could have consequences. Like the old Kersey/Porter/etc fantasy deal for Olajawon or Barkley. That's not really the case here. Plus, I don't entirely mind the worse case scenario where he doesn't re-up here and we're back in the lottery.

Hate Whitsitt or not, he brought talent (albeit even with questionable personalities) to Portland. Dude could get talent to Portland like Ron Jeremy could score a girl. They might be tainted for any number of reasons, even if just over the height of their careers, but he could make it happen.

    Honestly, I miss that.

Jesus Christ. Whitsett "re signed" them because Paul Allen paid vastly more than the market rate. So much so that the NBA changed the rules so he couldn't continue to outspend every other team. Players didn't have the ability to wave off the extra salary because they could make it up in endorsements either. Only MJ could do that back then.

Canzano is such a douche. Is it just me or did he subtly imply he's a great visionary, while saying Olshey isn't. Such a douche. I feel dirty every time I read his pompous bullshit.
