Portland isn't out of the Playoff race regardless of what they do because of how bad the teams are around them all in the race for #8. It won't really be an accomplishment to get the #8 spot....just the inevitable occurring that someone had to be the #8 seed despite how bad they were.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I didn't read the article, but the Blazers weakened themselves this year in order to hopefully take a step forward in the future. That doesn't necessarily mean they're out of the race for the 8 seed, but considering they simultaneously slightly strengthened their main competitor for the seed, they're the underdogs now. That's fine, though--success this season isn't sneaking into the playoffs to be annihilated by the Warriors. Success is getting at least a half season idea of what they have in Nurkic, Vonleh, Crabbe, Meyers--hell, toss Layman on the pile too. All the players who people say, "We don't know what they'd do if they got consistent minutes"--give them consistent minutes.

I don't think this sets the Blazers back at all. This squad could stand to play at slower pace and take more inside shots.

Oh no! You actually read a clownzano tabloid fake news drama mind fuck? You get the stinky sausage award for this bad behavior.

If you continue with this unsafe fan behavior, it will take many visits to Dr. Jacks to get your mind right again.

I think all of that is fair to say about this trade's impacts, but whether or not the Blazers are waiving the white flag on the season is dependent upon whether this is all Olshey is planning to do before the deadline. Somehow, I doubt that's the case. I think he'll want to, at a minimum, move Ezeli. He may have a move in mind to address the team's needs at the PF spot. I think that success for the rest of this season is about obtaining assets and shedding salary bloat so that the team can enter the off-season in a position to come back next fall with a more complete team than this year's version.

I only wish that I was as smart as Canzano and had as many inside sources as he does!

I believe that Neil had a timeline that he was pushing, and last season threw everything out of whack. We were never supposed to make the playoffs. We were never supposed to have all those guys play as well as they did.

This trade is more in line with the original plan. Plumlee was going to get paid way more than he's worth this summer. We got a young prospect, we got a first rounder, and I don't see anything wrong with that. This was a solid move where we got something for a free agent player, instead of being in an Allen Crabbe situation where we have to match a ridiculous offer or lose an asset without compensation.

For those who didn't read the article it starts out..."it was a dark and cloudy night...the coffee hit my gut like paint thinner...nobody likes me....(you get the drift)
and it had illustrations...he's making hats

Was it him or Quick that years ago was convinced the team was able to trade a player after the deadline?
