almost puked when i saw monta ellis in the trade machine. as far as primary options go he's been the worst offensive player in the league this year. i'd rather have rudy gay.

If the rumor is true, I don't think it will be one for one. I think Olshey will be wanting to try to cash in Aldridge for a lot of pieces that will help make this team a contender. Maybe a couple vets and some young talent that also projects long term with our core.

This thread would get more hits without Canzano's name in the title.

BTW, look at Greg Monroe. I'd take Monroe + Maggette (expiring) + pick (protected) for LA.

We get our C and about $8mil more of capspace.

Indiana would do Aldridge and Smith for Hibbert and George. And Indiana would absolutely do it. And guess what? Aldridge would have to play center in Indiana.

You mean Aldridge and Matthews for Hibbert and George? Because no way do they do the deal with Nolan Smith in it instead.

Also I wouldn't be so sure they trade George period. What players would it take for us to deal Batum? Think about the list. Is it pretty small? It would be that small for George.

    They wouldn't. Come on Mags.

George will be an All-Star this year, and Hibbert was an All-Star last year. They're first in their division and third in the East. Why would they blow up their core to acquire Aldridge? They might be willing to trade George, but I highly doubt it actually. I'd bet they're more likely to want to move Granger at this point.

    How about this?

Portland trades: Aldridge and Luke Babbitt
Portland receives: Hibbert, George and J. Fredette

Indiana trades: David West, Hibbert, George and their first rounder
Indiana receives: Aldridge, Cousins and Salmons

Sacramento trades: J. Fredette, DMC and Salmons
Sacramento receives: David West, Indiana's first rounder and Luke Babbitt

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=b2gqafr

    Portland's new starting 5:
    Lillard, Batum, George, Hickson, Hibbert

    Portland's 6th man: Wes Matthews
Portland's notable bench: Leonard, Fredette, Freeland and Rice

    Seriously Mags, answer the question.

Why does Indiana blow up their roster when they're the third best team in the East?

Aldridge is more valuable than Hibbert and George IMO. In the East, he would be a shoe in to be in the all-star game each and every year. Indian already has great defense; so they would only need Aldridge to score. And if this deal actually ever happened; us fans would see just how important Aldridge is to a successful franchise.

Plus the Kings get raped. A late 1st rounder isn't going to do them much good.

I would take that deal in a heartbeat but NO way it would happen. That is why I haven't bothered even mentioning it when I put two trade scenarios out last night.

George is quite possibly on his way to be one of the new stars of the NBA. And we know how much this team could use Hibbert.

Indiana has a great defense because of Hibbert and George. If they swap them out for Aldridge, they would not be quite as good defensively anymore.

They wouldn't be blowing up their team. They would be adding firepower on the offensive end. If they used grainger instead of George is just as fine I guess. They will have to make a choice between one of them.

And with this deal; think about the line-up of Indiana:

    Starters:
George Hill, Stephenson, Granger, Aldridge and DMC

    Bench:
    Augustin, Mahinmi, Hansbrough, Johnson.

It's actually a very nice team.

    Then swap granger for George.

I guarantee they keep George over Granger 10 out of 10 times.

    He's much younger.

    He's healthy.

    He's dynamic.

Seriously have you watched the Pacers at all this year?
