Players don’t “reject” the qualifying offer, it is an option during their entire restricted free agency until they sign a longer term contract. Greg can initially decide to try and get a long term deal from the Blazers or another team (that the Blazers could match.) But if he can’t find an acceptable deal he can then take the one year offer.

So you're saying that Dave has it wrong? I was beginning to wonder after reading the press conference with Cho because his explanation didn't sound like Dave's. Is there someone who can show the clause in NBA whatzit?

Your reply was in regards to a GM not using a roster spot at the minimum salary for Greg. If Greg got injured next season I bet every team in the league would use a minimum salary spot for him if they could. The cost of that is cutting your 15th best player, Earl Barron or Luke Babbit.

Irrespective of Greg's health I'd like to see us acquire a solid PF/C, so with Greg's health problems yes I think it would be even more beneficial. The problem is acquiring someone talented enough to make your team better but at a price that you gain more then you lose. I doubt Oden is worth much in trade but sure if I were the Blazers GM I’d consider offers for Greg, Batum, Wallace or Matthews. Even if Greg never missed another game (haha) Camby will be in the last year of his deal and is almost 40. There is 30mpg+ of backup big man minutes available.
