<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't really think the league needs guys who cheat on their wife and daughter, and stain the league's reputation.</div> Ok even I think, that is out of line.
Why? They're saying that Carter's opinion (even though he was complimenting Kobe), shouldn't be taken into account because of his past, I'm saying that Kobe doesn't necessarily have a perfect past either. Its hypocritical.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant scored more points in his last game than the Nets have on three occasions this season. Bryant's head-shaking 81-point outburst Sunday against the Raptors made Vince Carter say "Wow" several times and probably had him thinking again about how great it is to be out of Toronto. "If it's an overtime game, he definitely would have made it, I'm sure," Carter said. "Forty-six shots in 42 minutes? Yeah, I think he could have. If he played 48 minutes I'm sure he would. Wow. That's all you can say." "You'd probably have a better chance of winning the lottery, but there's always a chance," Richard Jefferson added. "The only bad thing about it," Carter said, "is that younger kids now, whose minds are easily [influenced], they are going to think, 'Oh! I am going to go out there and do it,' instead of [having] the team concept first. That is what is missing in the game: guys understanding how to play as a team "Eighty-one is 81, I don't care if you're playing summer league, pickup, PlayStation, it's a lot," Carter said "Of course you need the power of the whistle behind you to get some free throws in," Carter said. "You have to get some threes; it helps not to have that many shot attempts. My problem is having to get up 46 shots. Sometimes if you take 35, that's a lot, boy. Ten more, that's tough." </div> Link This was where the quote came from, doesn't really give the feel of him "hating" or being jealous.

I know of many many Kobe haters who to this day, still call Kobe a rapist, ballhog, cheat, and backstabber. Yeah, Kobe made some mistakes. We all do. Yet most Kobe Haters just dont get that.

Vince Carter whined like a lil girl in toronto saying stuff like "...im never going to dunk again..." and later admitting he didnt give 100% in Canada. Carter has lost ALL of his opinion privileges. Kobe is better than him. Why is Vince speaking.

Cuz nobody should care!! I'm not even sure why people still bring up the fact that he cheated on his wife....statistics show that over half the population has at one point cheated on their spouses, and i'm going to go out on the limb and say that number is even higher amongst professional athletes...obviously, that's a character flaw but it sure as hell doesn't have anything to do with the game of basketball. I couldnt care less if Kobe was involved in infidelity , and neither should anybody else besides Kobe's wife and family. that's their problem... with vince, the criticisms against him are for what he's done on the court... True Toronto Raptors fans have good reason to be angry at him... his former teammates have reason to be angry at him ... That's the difference... With all that said, i agree with og15 that the media is taking his comments out of context...
Those comments are not taken out of context. Vince Carter is the last person to speak about being a role model. Maybe those comments weren't directed specifically at Kobe, but again why is Vince preaching something he himself doesn't practice? And virve the reason why people keep harping on Carter's Toronto days, are because of the idiotic statements he continues to make. Even within this same interview when asked why he turned down Team USA. He said, the team has enough scorers [Kobe,LeBron] why do they need me? If he wants to talk about being a team player and role model for kids, then it's certainly not just about him scoring.

When Vince Carter scores 81 in a game then give me a call, but for now he should just keep his mouth shut.
rookie789, Kobe did admit he cheated on his wife, but she forgave him and in some twisted way, maybe there marriage is stronger from it.

And people do care, because it's hard to let your kids look up to somebody who cheats on their spouse. And shape, I saw part of the interview on NBATV, and Carter only had respect when he was talking about Kobe. These articles only take excerpts of what he said to make it look bad. As for the Olympics, their are going to be a crap-load of wing players on the team and VC will be three years older, so it's not like he would get much playing time anyway. He's already got his gold, why bother going if he's not going to play. While VC isn't the greatest of role models, neither is Kobe.

While VC isn't the greatest of role models, neither is Kobe.</div> Well my point is on the court Kobe Bryant is a great role model for up and coming basketball players. Off the court, obviously he shouldn't be on top of anyone's list. The Olympic team hasn't even been decided upon yet. They are just putting together a group of players for tryouts before they name the final 12 man roster. Again, Vince Carter showing his ignorance on subject matter. Who cares if he's going to be 3 years older? So will everyone else. There's even a possibility VC is a better player 3 years from now. Maybe the real truth is VC isn't ready to commit 3 years to this team? I just think the excuse he gave was lame and ignorant especially when he's talking about players being role models. Basically he's saying, I'm not going to have a perceived, major role on this team, therefore why bother. On a team everyone has a role, even the last guy on the bench. The fact that Vince has a Gold and the experience of playing in the Olympics is a role in itself. The things he says and his views on life are irritating.
