The worst is listening to Canzano and hearing the morons agreeing with him. Sports radio is the worst. The people have no idea what they're talking about.
How about the guy at the bar who thinks a 90-year old Shaolin Monk can use a pressure point technique to kill a UFC fighter with one hit? Or the guy that insists he saw Ken Shamrock knock out ten guys in a row and win the championship "way back in one of the old UFC's"? Or the guy that thinks he could beat any UFC fighter under STREET RULES?
You know, it's funny, I have a friend that trained at Fairtex, and sparred with some of the best in the world. My friend is crazy fast, he hits like a truck (I've held pads for him), and he would most likely destroy just about anyone in a fight under "street rules". That said, he told me he couldn't handle the best of the best. They were just a step faster, and a hair stronger, but it was enough to make them the champ.
I think the worst is the guy that's a step above the "casual sports fan." I'm talking about the fan that holds a lot of strong opinions about teams just based on his fandom and bias. ex: "Man, Ohio State is going to crush Wisconsin!" - someone who can't name a single player on Wisconsin, or even the offense that Wisconsin runs for that matter... but he's convinced his team will crush them...
No real interesting story... I just seem to have more time to post at night. In short, kinda on a bit of a 'vacation' between the 9-5 and law school. I went into sports marketing after college for a min, but I didn't really see a good future in it, so I'm going to law school next fall and just working part-time in the afternoons atm to pay rent. Can't complain...
Haha, I don't know if I'd do everyone else like that, but I've definitely got my time to check out the board right now. I'm probably gonna be a ghost again here soon. I didn't really bail on s2 at the JBB merger, was just too busy around that time to post for several years... just now happen to have the extra time to come back and post every now and then at night while I'm between shit....
Screw you all, I'm a casual MMA fan. And casual college bball fan. In fact the only sport I know all the intricacies about is NBA. I don't insert myself into conversations as if I know stuff when MMA comes up for example, but I still like being part of a conversation about ronda rousey and her arm bars. Don't be elitist fucks!
Fair enough. I think by casual fan most of us are actually talking about blowhards. People who would have you believe they are experts or people who have strong but unfounded opinions. People that can't just watch and enjoy but have to narrate and offer advice to the television screen.
