Cats aren't the problem. They are only doing what they evolved to do. Humans who don't spay/neuter, or who thinks a female should have just one litter with no plans to provide for the kittens, or that it is unmanly to neuter a tomcat, who decide a cat is too much trouble to care for and dump him/her to fend for him/herself. They are the problem. They are the cause of millions, probably tens of millions, of unhoused feral cats trying to feed themselves and their kittens. You can't reasonably expect a hungry predator to ignore available prey because it's endangered.
I do feel bad that I have outdoor cats... My kids love them and they do keep the rodent population at bay (rodents have been bad the last couple years). And I can't stand the smell of the litter box. For some reason the two neutered males like to take dumps on the furniture (?!?!) I need to build them an outdoor catio (and/or maybe a fenced-in run with sand along the side yard fence). Hopefully they'll use a cat door to do their business outside in the sand... Luckily the spayed female is in the house most of the time because at least she will go out and do her business when she needs to.
We are thinking of getting something like this for our cats. Two have been indoor only and two became indoor when we moved here. They all love the windows when open so we are thinking something like this on our front patio would be perfect.
But in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces of the Lingnan cultural region, some—especially older—people consider cat flesh a good warming food during winter months. The Associated Press reported in 2008 that people in southern China's Guangdong province (population just over 113 million) ate 10,000 cats per day.
Lashanna seems to just materialize. Took a ridiculously long time to figure out. She refuses to wear collar with a bell. And she doesn't talk. Lucia talked, she would always announce her arrival with verbal greeting and often just chatter. Part Siamese and they are talkative. Lashanna is not a talker. With no bell, not talking and silent paws, Lashanna really does seem to appear out of nowhere.
There's a cat who leads a life of danger To everyone she meets she stays a stranger With every move she makes Another mouse she takes Odds are she won't be seen til tomorrow Secret agent cat, secret agent cat They've given you a collar And taken away your game Beware of pretty birdies that you find A pretty bird can peck on your behind Ah, be careful where you spray Or you'll give yourself away Odds are she won't be seen til tomorrow Secret agent cat, secret agent cat They've given you a collar And taken away your game barfo
Took me two days to assemble Lashanna's cat tree. Made more difficult by her jumping on it an sharpening her claws while I was still putting in final screws, which had to be done by feel since I couldn't see them.
My cats are chill. Haven’t had cats in years because I’ve been allergic. My daughter decided to take care of a stray when she first moved to Hawaii with me. She was pregnant, apparently. Had four kittens. So many stray pets out here, nobody wanted any of the kittens. So now we have momma and three of her kittens. Great cats. I’m apparently no longer allergic, either.
I see what you did there. But considering that she’s only now just turned 13, it’s kinda pushing the envelope. But you do you, creeper.
Hey, it wasn't me who got your 13 year old pregnant. You should be looking instead at the local tomcat. Or maybe the local shark? barfo
I've gotten those for my cats in the past (not that exact one of course, so your mileage may vary) but I've noticed that they don't care about it. But than again, the last few cats I've had hated human food and had an aversion to cat nip, so maybe mine are actual aliens instead of cats.
Got in car to go to grocery. Heard a thump as Lashanna jumped onto hood. Car warms up faster than the ground and cats love warm high places. I had to get out and lift her down. She sat on porch with injured expression.
