    Cleveland gets LA and Beasley
    Portland gets Gortat, TT, Cleveland pick

    This year's team was competing for a playoff spot until the last three weeks of the season. There are some young pieces here. Trading an All-Star for a broken down PF and an undersized PF, along with a draft pick, seems foolish to me.

    Missed that, but still are stuck with Varejao's contract. I have to admit that when I keep seeing these trades with bad teams for LMA, that always include a bad contract, my instinct is just to pick the trade apart. This one, even after reconsidering, I still don't get.

    Thompson is a poor man's JJ Hickson. Teaming him with Matthews in a trade won't net anything of substance, will it? Although the pick would be nice, I do agree with that one.

    I wouldn't put LA above and beyond Jefferson but he is a better player. Jefferson can rebound more consistently but thats about it that he is better then LA.

    And Aldridge was better out of the post this season. 26th in the league, .94 points per possession, slightly ahead of Jefferson's .89, 46th in the league.

    LA took a ton of perimeter shots this season. And it sounded like he's going to work on shooting 3-pointers during the offseason.

    That doesn't dispute that he was better in the post than Jefferson, though, does it? I wish every one of his shots came from 2 feet and in. I understand that isn't going to happen. Just was sharing that he was pretty damned effective on the block.
