Well, in reality, that's how the Cavs are built though. They're a team who's offense really begins and ends with LeBron. They're not a team that's going to blow you out of the water with scoring. They're a slow-down, defensive oriented team. That's why you see the likes of Wallace and Snow out on the court at the same time. They're both solid defensively. I would go far enough to say that the only real consistent offensive threats they have are LeBron and Mo. Delonte West is streaky, Wally is very streaky, Big Ben is useless, Big Z is starting to tread the path of an offensive liability - he's really only a mid-range shooter now since his knees are so bad, he can't really bang down low (I personally think of him as an Arvydas Sabonis with less range at this stage of his career), Varejao can't score to save his life on most nights and is really in there for his hustle in defense...yea, you get the picture. There's some offensive talent here, but aside from LeBron and Mo (who can be streaky as well), there's no real consistency. There's a lot of great defensive players on the roster, but not a lot of offense.

the cavs have a shot even if it's not a very good one.

they have the best player in the league which is always a good place to start. they have mo williams, delonte west, and daniel gibson to help with the ballhandling, scoring, and provide very good perimeter scoring. they have big z giving them post scoring and varejao and ben wallace giving them good interior defense. the team plays very good team defense. the big question marks they have are size on the perimeter other than lebron(one or more of wally, pavlovic, and kinsey is going to have to play well) and a 4th big to fill joe smith's spot(can jj hickson fill that role?).

obviously the favorite in the east has to be boston but i'd put the cavs 2nd ahead of detroit.

I'd say low post scoring is something they lack more than size on the perimeter. Big Z doesn't do all that much low post scoring, he does drift a lot and take mid range jumpshots. (82 games says Big Z takes 34% inside shots and 66% jump shots)

Big Ben does give some occasional layups or dunks, but obviously it's not all that much with his 4.2 ppg.

i said "post scoring" not "low post scoring". big z is a guy they can give the ball to in the post and he can score points whether it ends up being something that is considered "inside" or a jumpshot.
