Wes would be great for Cleveland. Great for most teams really. I hope we keep him. He would be an All Star in the East.

Wes is the heart of this team.

They have nobody outside the two obvious that come close to his value.

    Glad Neil feels the same.

Now we know why Lebron was front and center at the Knicks game

I would still be interested to see what the Cavs are offering, As well as other teams. Not because I want Wes gone or traded but to just see what his value is around the league. You never just want to come out and say no and you never want to fall in love. Olshey has his work cut out for him and it should be very interesting come trade deadline into the off-season .

I can confirm that the Portland Trail Blazers have no interest in moving Wesley Matthews and breaking up this nucleus.

If you stop posting asinine trade offers that have no basis of reality, then i'll agree.

In other words, stop making asinine trade offers that have no basis of reality.

I think any GM should consider any trade proposal. It's just that some of them take about 1/10th of a second to reject. Outside their top three players, the Cavs have nothing the Blazers would trade Wes for. And even considering their top 3, none of them get us a shooting guard to replace Wes' role. So unless we're getting Lebron in return, we'd need another team involved to dump Love or Irving for a SG. It's a non-starter and a non-story.

To look at it another way, the GM should evaluate and place a value on every player on their roster, continually, and at all times have an idea what they'd be willing to trade each player for. So when an opportunity comes up, they should know right away if the opportunity is worth considering or pursuing. By the same token, they should be scouting every team in the league and placing a value on other team's players, and determining which players they'd make a play for if given the opportunity, and who they'd be willing to give up to get them.

I have no doubt our front office does exactly that. It's their job.

And while I agree that "the Portland Trail Blazers have no interest in moving Wesley Matthews and breaking up this nucleus", nor shoud they, everyone and every player has their price. If it were me, I'd value and price every player who makes up "our nucleus" very, very high. Chemistry and fit matter.

All that is to say that a trade involving any of our starting five, even Batum, is extremely unlikely in the near future.

It would be an easy model to make, which I'm sure management has already implemented.

    Good Character = +1
    Bad Character = -1
    Good defender =+1
    Bad Defender = -1

    And so on...

Obviously certain attributes would hold higher value, but you can easily find a "total value" like PER for players. That would include leadership, character and heart

If we trade Wesley I'm not going to be happy. He has more fire than the whole team combined. He is a neccessary cog on a championship team. Why the hell else does Bron Bron want him?

Well in the past we all have heard how much Paul loves Batum. We're probably going to have to get rid of one or the other eventually.

Also there is no proof that Paul likes Batum more than some other players on our team. That isn't to say he doesn't like him just that he really likes a lot of his players.
