I would have all contracts be 50% guaranteed. Fully guaranteed contracts hinder franchises for years. It would also allow money to be redirected to the players that actually deserve it.

I would eliminate the MLE, it reduces the value of having salary cap room.

I would eliminate the trading of nonguaranteed contracts as salary dumps, it's basically circumventing the salary cap.

It's a crime that Rashard Lewis is being paid $45.7m over the next two seasons. His agent is one slick bastard. I think I'm siding with the owners.

well, if contracts arent guaranteed, and you cant trade non guaranteed contracts, there could be no trades?

Totally agree. I was pissed when I heard that report that owners had given up on pushing for unguaranteed contracts.

Its stupid having more than half a contract guaranteed no matter how horrible the player is. It punishes a franchise for years and even hurts the players that actually deserve more money.

Haha, yes well I think you should be able to swap similar contracts just how right now salaries usually have to match up in a trade before the deadline.

I'm reefering to the loophole in the offseason where a team like Dallas trades Erick Dampier to get Tyson Chandler then Charlotte immediately cuts Dampier's unguaranteed contract. That's straight circumventing of the salary cap.

i think the signing of guys that are basically retired is the worst offender

the lakers signed aaron mckie to a big deal to make salaries work in the pau deal, as did the mavs to make the kidd deal work with keith van horn, basically "here is a free 5 million dollars for doing absolutely nothing" lol
