Ya he was always a crowd favorite, well not always. But you like him over Bird, Russel, Cousy, Walton, Parish, and/or McHale? :dunno: Haha, just messing with ya!

The thing is, most of the people that say Bird, Russel, McHale, etc. have never even seen them play and weren't even alive in their heyday. I'm basing it on what I grew up with.

I don't think his number will be retired, but he will always be remembered.

I just recently started a thread on Toine and I saw CelticBalla defending him, which is commendable if you've been a Celtics fan of recent history. He's definately a fun player to watch when he's hot and nobody doubts his attitude towards the game. He's always getting the crowd involved and he's always trying to get the team pumped up. In that aspect of the game, he's one of the best guys in the league in my opinion. He doesn't get injured that much and is ready to play every night. On the actual basketball side of things though, (imo) Antoine was nothing more than a fun player to watch on a bad basketball team when the Celtics had some of their worst teams in the history of the franchise. When Pierce started to come into his own and step up his game that's when they started doing well during the Toine-Pierce era of the Celtics. Toine can do a little bit of everything but he doesn't do any of it that good on a consistent basis. He will help you get the regular season wins and that's just about it, in the playoffs his downsides get the best of him. I hope his tenure in Miami is successfull because I do like Toine, but it's mainly because of his attitude for the game and his energy, I don't want him in a Boston Celtics uniform though. I hope he learns how to become a good role player for the Heat, maybe Pat Riley can help turn around some of his bad habits.

I definitely think Riley has helped him be more efficient to a point, and he is a much better defensive player now than he was with us. He is a decent team defender, he has always been an average defender, maybe a hair less than average, now he is average and has some games where he plays excellent defense (games 1-2 of the series with the Bulls).
