I am sure Mullin will have hard time removing 3 out of 5 starters in last year, and crown jewels of his signings, but just maybe he will consider this deal...

OK, enough of dreaming... I really don't know about this trade. In one hand, we will get a superstar. In other hand, Iverson really doesn't improve any of our weakness. And, while he has 3 years contracts, we are looking for 2 years or shorter contract. So, he doesn't solve our salary problem either. Do we really want to part Monta for Iverson? What if Philly take one of our big contract? I guess only time will tell...</div>

They should put that in the new CBA. If it works on the trade machine, it's good [IMG].

One thing I haven't heard talked about much. Don't we have the Sixers' first-round pick for next year? As I understand it, that's lottery-protected, but what if as part of what they offer they were to make that pick unprotected?

    How do we get Randolph?

I like Randolph, but there are things that bother me about his game. One is passing. Two is lack of defense. Three is he's a max paid player that can get into trouble with the law. Although he's a go-to guy for Portland, is he really a true go-to guy? I do think he's got the all-around scoring game though. He can do a little shooting, his footwork is excellent, he's very strong and agile like Elton Brand, although not athletic at all. He can occasionally take some guys off the dribble and make fadeaway shots. The spin moves and hip checks he does are really great at freeing him up for shots. Most big players either lack the strength or agility to do such things. Randolph is also a great rebounder, especially offensive rebounder. I just don't like his intangibles or defensive ability. I think that weighs in heavily when you factor in what he does offensively and the rest of the game he's missing compared to Elton Brand, Tim Duncan, Jermaine O'neil, young Chris Webber, or Chris Bosh.

Plus, I don't think Portland would give up on him if they think Aldridge is better suited towards center with the power forward playing inside. And let's not forget how Portland watched young and bust-worthy pick Jermaine O'neil blow up into an all-star big man.

Out of any of our warriors, I wouldn't trade Monta Ellis just yet... I have a special place in my heart for players that can create their own shot, shoot well, play defense, and show some promising signs of improved ballhandling and passing ability/court awareness. Ellis is one of the quickest players in the league for 6'3 and I'd hate to lose that potential.

Three players on the Warriors I absolutely love for their roles at their intended positions of C, PF, and PG: Biedrins, Ike, Ellis. I think we get a good mix of strength inside, and quickness on the outside. Lots of defensive potential and great offensive potential. If we find a suitable SG/SF combo that works (especially defensively), I think we'll make the playoffs once that team grows together and matures. I think that potential inside-outside lineup will have very few flaws if it improves in the way I think it can. Maybe there are some moments where Biedrins gets outmuscled or Ike is too short to handle some guys, but I think those two are very talented when paired together. We've yet to see where Ellis goes, but he's got a great feel for the game and tremendous ability. Maybe this kid can be one of the first high school shooting guards to become a successful all-around point guard.

    From Foxsports.com's Rumor link:

Allen Iverson's departure from Philadelphia might be coming very soon, as Sixers GM Billy King told another Eastern Conference executive last night that he has "two deals on the table, ready to go." One of the deals King was strongly considering is with Golden State, for point guard Baron Davis, center Andris Biedrins and a third unidentified player. In addition to Iverson, the Warriors would get backup center Steven Hunter. While a source close to one of the players involved called the deal "done," the Sixers remain quiet about where they will be sending Iverson. "It makes sense for the Sixers to make the deal with Golden State," an Eastern Conference executive said last night.

Trading Biedrins? That's a killer. Even worse than trading Monta and I do not want Monta traded. God I hope this is not true.

This Iverson trade prolly isn't going anywhere.

We heard from one New York paper that it is Baron and the other saying it was more JRich. I was going by Baron and two young guys. But if the rumors about Mullin trying to get a third team involved could mean he's trying to deal Monta. Then the Sixers would have to take Foyle and Murphy just to match salaries and I could see how they would nix that and Mullin would have to find a third team.

So maybe the best deal is no deal, at least for Iverson. If Mullin or the Sixers want to keep it simple, e.g. Baron or JRich, then it's easier to make a deal.

What I like about it is Mullin isn't saying anything. The Kings have already said that they are out of the running for Iverson. That leaves fewer teams to compete against and and so Mullin may be able to wangle a deal out of the Sixers when they don't have much options left.

The Sixers pick is lottery protected, and the way the Sixers are playing, it would end up as a million dollar payout. If they would unprotect it, then it would be much more attractive because of the shot at Oden or the other big names in the upcoming draft. If Mullin could get the Sixers to do this and take Murphy and Foyle, then it may be worth seeking a third team.

The Sixers have Shavlik (injured), not Zack. Shavlik said he feels great and is trying to come back this year after that horrible ankle injury.

Ahhhh... Didn't know Shavlik was still in the league, let alone Philly. When you said "Randolph", I figure you meant the better Randolph.

It's like saying Allen. I'm assuming one is not talking about Malik Allen, but Ray Allen. [IMG]

Back east it's "journalism" to troll the alleys and crack houses for "insider" rumors. Technically,a crack-ho indoors wearing a Sixer cap is an "insider" with "NBA" connections. So this week Shaniqua had a vision the Sixers would get Biedrens..last week she thought they'd get Dr J.[IMG]

Iverson is 5 years older....or,put it another way-due to decline about now. He's high maintanance, big ego, expects to be catered to. He is paid FAR more than J Rich. If you think the $ paid Foyle or Murphy are of any significance---the EXTRA cost of AI over J Rich is about that.[IMG]

In my neighborhood, there's a pretty clear line between lunacu and sanity, though the local wingnuts will want to debate that[IMG] and might argue with a beagle for an hour or so on the topic

I agree with REREM. He's relatively cheap, has a heart of a true warrior, outstanding professional, provides monster highlight reels when healthy, and still has upside.

JRich loves the fans in the bay area. Don't forget that he was the one who started the apology ad in the newspaper. Now that was very humble of him.

LOL. Better a moose's turd than some girl named "Tiffany".

If I was a pervert maybe that'd be okay.

He didn't have to apologize for anything except dribbling the ball off his own foot and missing free throws down the stretch.

Now if we could get Foyle to apologize for his hands and oafishness, Murphy for his lead feet and arms, Dunleavy for his annoying hairband and passive/inconsistent style of play, and Fisher for his annoying habits on offense and defense that get us killed even worse.

Next, Mullin should apologize for this sorry roster in which he killed the salary cap and team budget in a matter of one and one half seasons before the ink even dried on the contracts. Finally, he should apologize for getting Mike Montgomery who wasn't ready for the nba and wasn't given a reliable post player and reliable guys who can at least run halfcourt plays (we got a bunch of guys who can't shoot, play D, pass, run plays, etc). As a slight follower of Pac-10 ball, I knew from Day 1 that guy ain't going to play the rookies, He hates rookies because he wants them to learn the playbook first and also because he thinks its better for their development if they don't get pressured right away to contribute. Forget that. Play whoever is listening and will at least fill a role.

Finally, Montgomery should apologize for letting the rookies play down the stretch. If we're going to tank, then tank it with Foyle, Fish, and Cheaney. Stop putting in the promising rooks when the season is done and giving us hope for next season and screw up our lottery chances. We haven't had a top 5 pick in a deep draft for years and years... Now I kind of wish we had top 5 so we can at least get Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy. This POB guy is interesting, but he ain't going to develop right under Nelly IMO. How many classic centers has Nelly even worked with? Nelly is a good coach, but this small ball style will start to wear down on us like it did the first time around. Gotta get bigger and at the same time faster, stronger, more polished. Inside/outside game with good ball movement, good shot selection, and good defense. That's how you win. But with Nelly, it makes us wish we had another guard or small forward because Pietrus/Jrich aren't really your classic guard or small forward.
