The funniest part of this is that I dropped this the other day. Guess I'm not the only one who sees it.
I'm ignorant when it comes to racism and African Americans. I think I can understand more than most because I've seen racist crap directed at my father just because he sounds like Ricardo Montalban but I have no clue what it's like to be black in today's America. Just like I'm ignorant when it comes to doing bodywork on cars. That I can learn but it doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
It can be tremendous fun. It can be tremendously irritating. You do remember how I learned the word hispanics use instead of the N word? I told this before. I kept hearing my co-workers saying fuck Miatas or so I thought. After months and months of hearing it I hadn't seen a Miata in the shop. I finally asked what Miata they were talking about and they told me what they were saying. Mayate. There isn't a race of people on Earth who don't have racists among them. The difference is white people have been the majority in this country. That's it. As long as the left wants to keep us all in different categories we'll always be at odds. I can't help anyone with their past. I can't change it. I can't change what happens to them today. In fact, the other night I decided to do a little experiment. I live in a diverse city and thought I'd give anyone who isn't white the stink eye if they said hi to me. Just to see their reaction. I've had multiple opportunities just this weekend and I just couldn't do it.
Says the post making up shit about me. Tags me. I tell the post to search my posts and the post runs off. Which is typical of the left. Revert to your indoctrination. Get called on it. Ignore it. Rinse and repeat.

What's funny is that I don't hear my father's accent at all. He just sounds like my dad. It's when I introduce people to him that they say it.
What I don't understand and what I see to be a huge problem is the lack of basic respected on differing opinions. I don't have to agree with someone's opinion to respect it. There are many times I don't agree with something that @Dviss posts, but that doesn't mean I don't respect it. And just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean that he's wrong. I see so many times where he will say something is racist and that just spins some of you into a tizzy. Why is it so hard to say, I don't agree with you but I respect your opinion and just leave at that. Instead you waste all this time trying to prove him wrong. Or weird shit like how some black person was racist to you so somehow that means you don't have to care about being racist. If you didn't like being treated like shit then it seems like you should give a fuck about others being treated like it.
Ignorance is a two way street especially when assuming how the other person in a conversation feels or knows. I find it best to have an open mind and consider possibilities rather than looking for judgment or even perceived judgment. I've seen a lot of assumptions from both the left and the right in this forum. Take that for what it's worth.
