Looks like Meyers averages 36/12/4/4 per 36

The main point of this thread is that keeping up the energy and intensity level of the center throughout the game will improve the success, and that this aiming for the best combined effort of the 3 centers may be an improvement that can win close games.

As the Current All-time Standings thread has discussed, the fact is that Meyers is 4th among active Blazers in scoring points total and leading, up to mid Feb when he was 9 for 17 in swish3s (53%) and 60.6% FG for this season. At that point, he should have shot at least 170 swish3 attempts earned by this leading statistic, given that Zach had shot 172 and Chief had shot 180 swish3 attempts by that time. And I don't remember blocks of his shot but do remember his playing defense and avoiding fouls.

The Blazers need additional swish3 scoring and seem to be leaving points overlooked, especially in the 2nd half of these high intensity games. The center rotation can be producing 30 points per game, to add to 60 points from the combined guard position and 26+ points from the combined forward position, to reach the 116+ points that will win games. Although the number of rebounds that I wish for may indeed be too high, it makes sense to strategically choose maximized combined talent to optimize late game intensity.

IMHO, it does not make sense to leave the swish3 scoring talent that is urgently needed on the bench.

OK, now I see where you're coming from. In order for Ed to play his best, and meet your lofty rebound projection, he must be rested and fresh. So, rather than two six minute stretches, we should play him in 12 separate 1 minute intervals with three minutes off between each. That way he can exert maximum effort every minute (literally) he's on the floor. This is sure to work. I don't know why no one else have ever thought of it.

4th among active blazers? Did you account for minimum minutes?

Meyers is right where he needs to be. I will encourage him to stay there. I will encourage the coaching staff, as well.

    There, I encouraged him.

It makes sense to leave Nards on the bench.
When at least three bigs who are getting minutes are better than him right now.

I'll let bench players sit, and encourage players who have earned the right to be on the court.

Yes, Meyers is 4th among active Blazers with 1803 points despite the minimum number of minutes (204) that he has played this season due to excellent scoring efficiency. Meyers and Ed are now the top of the list for scoring efficiency, and both can contribute to the center position adding the points needed to win in these highly contested games. It is important to recognize the statistical facts.

It does not make sense to leave 3-6 swish3 scores out of the Blazer offense, and to overlook the chance to have fresh enthusiastic off-the-bench contributions by a leading scoring talent.

Since you're the Meyers expert, you already know this, but the last time Meyers made three 3-pointers in a game was mid-November. The last time he made six 3-pointers in a game was NEVER.

Given the chance, I think that Meyers could make 6 swish3s in a game. The key is to green light him to keep shooting when he is 4 of 4. Remember that he had a 17 point game earlier this season. Those 4 swish3s would be welcome in the Pelicans game, as they would have been against the Rockets and the Celtics.
