Because he played part of one game in an abortive effort to return from injury and in that short stretch of time, he was fantastically unproductive.
If they keep RJ and resign Sessions+CV, they are going to go into lux tax, period. If I were them, I'd rather have the young ones rather than the older SF.
Substituting Webster for Batum makes the deal much rosier for Portland, of course. The idea is to make the deal worthwhile to both sides.
Well, I'd rather come up with something that doesn't involve Nic. Even with Butler, we would need something long term at the small forward spot. Butler is 28, almost 29, so it would be nice to have someone like Batum waiting in the wings. That is, unless you think Webster could be that guy
I think Butler is young enough that KP will have enough time to draft the next Batum. And sure, maybe Webster can be that guy. I doubt it, but he's still young enough that it's not impossible.
Would you do this deal? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...0~1006~3231&teams=15~15~15~22~22~22&te=&cash= Saves Bucks money while getting some good young talent back. Hate to lose Bayless but........Sessions is damn good.
If I had to guess, KP's all-but-untouchable list for the level of player we're discussing is: Roy LMA Oden Rudy Bayless and on a bad day, Batum I think the assets we're talking to other teams are... RLEC Outlaw Blake Webster Frye Diogu Freeland Randolph Sergio Any draft pick in our arsenal $3MM Those are a lot of attractive trade assets. It's one of the reasons I think we can be so stingy with who we'll deal.
I still say Vince Carter is the target. Dooling is the sweetener. Vince is playing at a higher level than all the other talked-about SFs.
Dooling is definitely not "sweetener". And as for the deal rumored for RJ I would imagine that we are offering Raef + Sergio and change or Raef + Travis and change. The only reason I can think of for the Bucks not to do the deal right now is they sorely need a quality guard. They probably want Bayless (like everyone else). It's probably just going to be a waiting game for KP as it seems he's just waiting patiently for opposing GM's to feel the pinch come the trade deadline and succumb to the pressure to stay under the salary cap. Holding out until the dying minutes of the deadline is likely what will happen, but Raef's contract is too good to pass up on for at least one cost-cutting franchise we're looking to deal with.
If KP can somehow get ahold of Caron Butler without giving up any of the core pieces we've got, I don't know what I'd do... I'd go insane.... in a good way. And in core pieces I mean Roy/LMA/Oden/Rudy/Bayless/Batum
Some of these trades are a little out there, more realistically I see something like this happening: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1994~2750~2754~454~2810~3025~2795~110~1966&teams=13~5~13~5~13~13~13~22~22&te=&cash=
