LMA's new contract isn't all that tough to trade. It would just require a deal coming back of at least 10.89M after the July 8 (with a PPP) and 13.1M for a PPP deal before the 30th. Certainly doable, with the names coming back that are being tossed around.

Uh, maybe because both Miller and Joel (assuming he heals) are both solid, capable players. They are guys that can contribute as solid players good teams. Thus, they have value other than as an expiring contract. Raef, well, his only value was his expiring contract.

The trouble is somebody is going to have to really want him and the 65 million dollar burden over 5 years he represents. The hornets are currently trying to get out of a a similar deal in Okafor (for instance)

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

    The deal makes sense if:

    1) There is someone in the draft the Blazers are hot for who would be available at 13 and not 22 (remember, no one thought Roy was anything very special)

    2) They are then packaging the 13 pick and pieces for someone they really want, or for a top pick

    3) They are targeting a free agent and need to clear a roster spot.

    I am reserving judgment.

For perhaps the final time, in KP we trust.

But our Euro is actually pretty good. And, Toronto being so metropolitan, Rudy would fit right in. Who care about the playoffs anyway?

    Calderon
    Rudy
    Hedo
    Barnani
    Bynum

That MIGHT get you to the playoffs in the east

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

I'm pretty sure DeRozan and Weems will both start over Rudy. If this deal happens Rudy will likely be the first/second guy of the bench. But i hate it for the Raptors, Fernandez is not worth dropping 10 spots.

Also you are saying that he's pretty good, yet the general consensus on the board during the playoffs was that he's shit. Someone just said that he is coming of bad year, why do you think you can do better than a lottery pick?

^Exactly. I don't want Rudy. We have DeMar, who has way more upside than Rudy. Keep him, I want DeMar getting as many minutes as possible. He'll be way better anyway. Rudy will be stuck avg 13 PPG 3 RBG, nothing special.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

I will say this, I think Rudy is fairly polarizing mostly due to his personality and less so because of his game. He's made enough comments to the Spanish media about being unhappy with his role and being "decieved" by the team to make a ton of people sour on him -- most of the people here that want him gone fall into that boat -- Me? I hate his game and haven't been impressed with him much at all, even during his rookie season, but I'm in the minority.

    It's really kind of funny.

After his rookie year, I got flamed for saying he was already close to his ceiling. In hindsight, my comments were actually unduly optimistic! Rudy seems to have the magical power to cloud (some) fans' minds.

he played like shit here in the playoffs because he and his coach couldn't be more different. Rudy is a good player, who would thrive in a more uptempo offense.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

We could say the same thing for Hedo (used as a spot up shooter rather than a play maker), doesn't change the fact that he had a terrible year and thus lowering his potential trade value around the league. Some teams may believe that Rudy will be a decent fit on their team but they will still won't give up the safe trying to get a player who's coming off a bad year. IMO a lottery pick is still a reach for him.

Yeah but your thread was by passed because you didn't have "Rudy" in the topic heading.

So much for the "i love rudy" and "rudy will you marry me?" signs and t-shirts worn by female fans at the RG. Now those females will have to find a new player to be addicted to.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Just like Sergio... setting NY on fire under D'Antoni...

Rudy had a crappy year because either his head was not in it or his back is messed up. The system is not going to mask the fact that his handle is suspect and he can not finish in traffic, just like D'Antoni's system did not mask the fact that Sergio can't shoot or play defense...

Rudy is a better player than he showed last year - but I would say that his last year is 90% on Rudy, not on Nate.
