I don't think they will bring a player in that forces the coach to bench or take away time from Blake. I think they like him and is good for team chemistry. They would look for other areas. Like giving Wes some help at that position or the three. But again I don't see them doing anything. One wrong move and it could stick a fork into his plans for the offseason. He's trying to keep these guys engaged into the idea of resigning. Not disengage.
I think every team has flaws, so we do have a chance. But generally speaking.........no I don't think we can pull it off this year.
I don't disagree with you, but Dragic would be an improvement over Blake not an improvement at our back-up wing spot. If we could simply swap Blake for Dragic I'd be ecstatic. But for what it would actually cost I think we'd get more bang for our buck by keeping Blake and adding a back-up wing. Shipping out a pick for Dragic just creates a jam between Blake/Dragic and to a lesser extent CJ without addressing the gaping hole(s) when Nic(Wes) take a breather.
I can't agree with your take. I'm just not feeling Afflalo or Chandler as the missing piece. I would be ecstatic if we got Kevin Martin though. Regardless, I think the first and foremost importance is finding a guard that can score.
Personally, the guy I'd like to get is Nic Batum. Not the guy who's been wearing his uniform this season, but the real deal from last year. Get that guy back to playing and we can do just fine without any other roster changes.
I think we are better this year because of Blake. When he and Dame are in there together we play well. So my theory is if we upgrade Blake (who he is getting older) we should get even better. (Even if it is next year) If we have two PG's in the game our turnovers go down and our bigs get better shots. It also eliminates the need for our SF to run the offense. Therefor you can use Wes or Crabbe or Batum or maybe even Meyers (Against certain teams) as a wing and not worry about the offense coming to a screeching halt. Our fast break points could improve as well with someone who will not throw it away. I don't think the back up wing would be an issue if we always had efficient guard play, because we could use Wes as the back up 3.
But when you see articles like this you kind of think.....why bother. 80 million? http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...-work-trade-phoenix-suns-goran-dragic-sources
