I don't see Parsons as that much better or different of a player than Aminu. Parsons will give you a bit better ball handling and offensive ability, but Chief is the better defender. I think the ability to drive the lane and finish in traffic is something that Chief will continue to get better at. Coming into this season so much of his focus was on being the guy who can knock down the open 3. If he puts in work finishing through contact in the off-season I think he can develop into an all-star caliber player. He's shown flashes of greatness finishing at the rim over the course of the season so I think it's there. It's just a matter of reducing the times where it looks like he's playing with a blindfold on. All-in-all I think Parsons is too much of a side-grade considering the fact that he has been battling injury the past two season, and that Aminu now has 1 season under his belt with this team. I believe in Chief, and I look forward to seeing what kind of player he becomes when he is in his prime (He's still developing his game). There are also other positions where I feel like we could make a bigger impact in free agency.
I couldn't disagree with you more. The only thing Aminu might be better at is defense, but advanced stats both rate them as about average. Parsons can shoot, drive, pass, handle the ball, and finish... all things that Aminu can't do.
Yeah, I'm not in favor of pursuing Parsons, but offensively he's SO MUCH BETTER than Aminu. There's no comparison.

I think that if they sign Whiteside then they have to go after Parsons. Whitesides such a good rim protecter that Parsons average defense won't matter. Having 3 players on the game that could run pick n roll surrounded by 3 shooters (Aminu as a starting 4) would be so insanely deadly... With Whiteside being perfect for the pick n roll defense Stotts runs, he would make everyone around him better defensively, as Dame, CJ, and Parsons are all solid 1-on-1 defenders that struggle more in the pick n roll.
