Yes, I have seen the school board positions go with no opposition, some time even without a candidate for the position. I think this is due to the school board having little real function these days.
The teachers union, the State and the Federal government dictate leave little room for the school boards to function or effect anything.

Ha! and if you had a couple crabs, you would be the King with crabs! Perhaps a King Crab before a King.

Choice of one. That sounds more like Saddam's Iraq or Stalin's Russia than democracy.

    Uhm, right, sure.

Do you think it is possible there is a difference between only one person wanting to run, and only one person being allowed to run?

Or are those the same thing?

If only one person is running then why vote? It's pointless. And not democratic.

I don't think there's a better alternative, you wanting to serve a totalitarian government aside, than voting for office holders. But even then, it's not exactly democratic that millions of office holders are appointed and not elected at all.

I think both Trump and Sanders should run independent of their parties. Have four major candidates. I think it would make things much more interesting, and entirely unpredictable.
