Magloire is enough to get Bell. There's no need to even discuss Marcus Williams. The question is if the Nets want to add a long-term contract while a rebuild looms. On the court, he would help them immensely.
mags for bell would be a no brainer for thorn. wait, nvm, forgot out GM sux and still beleives in this team

He is shooting 33%, and shooting 25% on three pointers. He is only averaging 5 points per game and 3 assists. Why would you give up two young players for him? His contract doesn't run out until 2011/2012, by then he will probably be 32 or 33 years old</div> Bell has been sulking, but he has picked it up the past few games. </div> while Redd has been hurt. this trade would be terrible for SO many reasons. Complain all you want about Marcus, but the nets are NOT going to go into next season without a backup point. </div> That is a pretty huge assumption that Marcus is a backup (2nd string) PG. </div> It's not even challenging to bait you.
Why would the Nets take on Charlie Bell? He has played poorly and has a long contract that could hurt the team's chances of signing players they want to keep long term. There is also NO indication the Nets are interested in someone with his skillset. There is NO indication they have given up on Marcus Williams either. Thorn has said the Nets' top priority is finding a big man who can score. Villaneuva fills that bill. (Thorn didn't say anything about defense, of course) However, the Bucks would want something other than Magloire, who failed with them two years ago. They would probably want a pick, something Thorn doesn't easily give up. The Nets have been historically reluctant to do mid-season deals unless they are salary dumps. The deals for Bernard Robinson and Boki Nachbar were both primarily salary dumps. One worked, the other didn't. The Nets have already made their salary dump this season: trading Ilic, Robinson and cash for David Wesley's buyout.

CV is a nice player, but I'm not sure what trading for him gives the Nets when we're banking on a Krstic-Boone-Williams-Collins frontcourt for the playoffs. It seems like a more pressing need is a sharpshooting swingman who can play when Carter or RJ is sitting (you know, like Boki, only a sharpshooter), or some point guard that puts us in a better situation than we are with Marcus. Then again, 3 months ago we were saying the same things about Boone that we're saying now about Marcus. That situation might fix itself, but it still doesn't solve the lack of outside shooting.
villy is like KVH. big who can hit the outside J and rebound. I would igve up a second rounder for him, Wright and Mags
Villanueva would be an excellent addition to this team...he could play the 3, 4, or even the 5 if we went with a more athletic lineup. He would work well with either Josh or Swat in the lineup and has an excellent jumpshot with tremendous range. If we could get him cheap than its a no brainer.
