Still confused, was it implied that Damian has an "open relationship"?

What is the comparison of the reaction in Dallas to an actual convicted Head Coach?

Someone leaked and there are only two parties, Billups and Blazers.

Billups shouldn't address any of this publicly. Its 24 years old. No matter his comment it can be turned against him. Even if he says the allegations are 100% false, and even if they are, then people will say why did he settle or why is he going against women reporting rape.

Neil should say they did a thorough background check and are comfortable with everything they learned (assuming that's what happened as reported)

All I can say is that there’s way too much judging and not enough judgment being displayed with respect to this issue by far too many people.

Looking around the twitters and such it’s there, but it’s not as prevalent. To me that makes sense because Dallas has all 5 major sports, so I don’t believe the passion is the same. That’s just my opinion though. It’s also a much bigger market, which I think makes a difference. I think you’d see similar outrage in Utah, OKC etc

The question will be asked and an answer will have to be given. But I agree there is no answer that will satisfy people. What could he possibly say that would exonerate himself without throwing the victim under the bus? And he certainly would not want to do that.

I’m having trouble following. So people should or should not be mad?

It seems that no matter which they are, someone will be mad or offended at their reaction or that they didn't react enoug. Horrible if it happened, but we don't know what happened. Yet the judgement crowd and media (Clown and sadly Dave, BE) are treating this like it happened for sure, without a doubt, just yesterday. #Portland

To me, Billups is an asinine hire because while he could be the next John Wooden or Dr Jack it’s a crap shoot. Yes, he’s well respected in the league, but who really knows if he can coach? He’s been an assistant for 1 year……1.
There are other assistant coaches who also could be the next John Wooden or Dr Jack that don’t have such serious stuff from their past.
I really hope he crushes it. I really hope people end up rooting for him that have doubts now.
There were hires out there that made as much sense if not more than Billups, without any past off court question marks.

I guess in closing, Olshey is a fucking idiot. Does he get that attendance dropped by around 3k during the JailBlazers era?

Should be mad at the people who aren’t mad? Or maybe it’s should not be mad at the people who are mad?

    To reiterate:

You can both believe the person AND see the rehabilitation of the offender.

which there clearly is BOTH of these.

Propagandist goes on a lengthy diatribe about how bad this is and Lillard is a bad guy then says “All this being said, Billups was not charged. It also seems crazy unlikely that Disney would have hired him at ESPN without a serious vetting”. Soooooo which is it?

I don't quite get why you and others keep thinking that the number of years a person is an assistant is important. Some people are just better leaders of men.
Steve Kerr comes to mind, as does Lenny Wilkens who was a player-coach for the Cavs and Blazers. The other candidates might end up being excellent, (I am pulling for Udoka) but I just don't care how much time each spent as an assistant. Players either respect you or they don't.

Agree. My point, which I have trouble making, is it’s not like he is far and away the absolute no brainer hire. There are others equally if not more qualified on paper

If Olshey's intent was to break S2, then mission accomplished. Somebody said that America was a motel room and Trump was a black light, and I'm certainly getting that same vibe seeing some of the responses on this thread. I haven't felt this bad about the Blazers since the Summer of LaMarcus Leaving. But somehow this is worse, because that was like ripping off a bandaid - bad, and then we can start fresh. This is like when we signed Ruben Patterson, only worse. Really making me hate some of my fellow Blazer fans (the worst of which seem to have suddenly found their voice).

EXACTLY. Everyone defending him is like "it's not fair to him to deny him this job!" Bullshit. It's not HIS FUCKING JOB. It's open to all, and he's far from the best candidate. He's just Olshey's candidate. Probably this is some behind the scenes agent agreement anyway.
