    Hello darkness, my old friend
It's a meh for me. I have no idea what kind of person he is, so I won't opine on that, but nothing suggests he's any kind of brilliant basketball mind as a coach. I'll certainly hope he's successful, but I definitely don't view this as some kind of home run hire. Most likely, he'll be part of the 90% of coaches who really don't matter too much and Blazers success will still come down to roster talent (which, IMO, is way below contender level).

This is a Billups thread but will comment on the Dame thing -- I would not worry about Dame this offseason BUT if the Blazers DO NOT make progress this season the next offseason could get REAL scary on the Dame trade front but let's cross that bridge IF and WHEN we get to it OR we SEE Dame demand a trade til then try and ignore stuff like this.

Which brilliant basketball mind did they lose out on? Or which one should they have gone after?

hopefully, but its his first head coaching job, hes new to the team and he might cut some slack to the players in order not to lose them from the get go

Thanks Kurt Helin for the scoop. When can I look forward to you making more shit up and posting it in an incomprehensible tweet?

    I'm getting antsy.

I think most people have seen Chauncey as the choice from the day he was mentioned as a candidate. The last two blazer coaches were pretty much roasted around here...as to his settling a case out of court....the Blazers owner has done that multiple times as well as smuggling bones illegally from Africa.....if all these things are deal breakers...then why would people continue to be loyal to the franchise? Choices

I am getting sick an tired of people wanting to crucify Billups for his past not as much so far on this forum ( but there are some ) but i went and read some of the comments on B-Edge and OMG you would think he was Hannible friggin Lecter or something cause some are saying they will stop being a fan etc.

What happened to people getting second ( sometimes more ALOT more ) chances to REDEEM themselves and show they have grown to be better then their younger self so to all those fans -- please just cut the Cancel Culture BS -- Thx

Ben Wallace was DPOY and won a chip as the center for one of the best defensive championship teams I've ever seen and the whole core had zero superstar players..plus he was about as tall as Charles Barkley..just great unselfish players....Chauncey in my view is going to have a great staff .

I'm going to cheer for Chauncey to succeed here and assume he's resolved the Boston issue in a responsible manner. He was never proven guilty so I'd rather not feed that narrative anymore...if there's an issue his accuser should have taken him to court and refused to settle.

    Glad it’s not Hammon.
Also kinda glad it’s not MDA, although the team would’ve been FUN to watch.

Majority will give him a chance here in Portland. The biggest thing the player's have to by in his system and if they do that then he will start on the right foot. Now it's time to talk about the rest of the off season.
