<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (x.Scrappy.x @ Jul 24 2007, 05:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>For a start this isnt a discussion about TMac and you might think that he has better moves than Gilbert and all of this other stuff... Gilbert is the one averaging almost 30PPG and you might be able to say TMac had a bad start to the season and he had to adjust with Yao gettin back into the line-up... that really doesn't make a difference because if he was such a threat as you say he is... he wouldn't be starting off bad and he would be good enough to adjust to Yao coming back...</div>Gilbert also isn't on a team with Yao Ming and with the worst offensive coach in the league (although this season, ironically, he will have one of the best). Gilbert doesn't have to deal with the playmaking duties that T-mac has. Download a Rockets game from this past seaosn and from 02-03, and you will see in 02-03 the Magic had a PG to set the offense up and T-Mac was allowed to get in a scoring position (18ft postup). With the Rockets, the only plays ran for him are 1 off ball cut off a screen, and the other being a pick and roll with Deke/Howard/Yao. In other words, very little oppertunity to get into a proper scoring position. When T-mac was in a Gilbert-like situation, he won back to back scoring titles. With Yao out, he was putting up better scoring numbers than Gil, and that is even with him still having to be such a heavy playmaker. T-Mac has the height advantage which is huge (lets him dominate guys like Bruce Bowen), has more moves to get himself a good look (Gilbert doesn't have moves...he just thows the ball up there hoping he is hot), is more efficient, is as good of/ a better jumpshooter than Gilbert, and overall just a better scorer. He started off the season poorly due to being out of shape and back injury still lingering. He came into camp at 240lbs...for comparison, he was around 215 with the Magic. It took him a month to get in shape (averaged 19PPG on 39% shooting in November), but when his team needed him to take over scoring load, he did it better than Gilbert. When a 26PPG center comes back into the offense, it is a huge difference, and forced T-Mac's role to adjust. By end of season he was on fire, having 3 of his best games of the season in April. But you are right, this isn't Gil/T-mac. Make a topic about that and I will gladly debate it.
gilbert arenas is 10x more explosive and a way better player, the only thing billups does better is probably passing.
I'll take Arenas over Billups because I dont think Bilups can carry a team like Arenas can. Billups fits into any offense better, but Arenas is more talented and as mentioned above, is one of the best scorers in the NBA.</p> Throw in the humor and his blog and Arenas wins in a landslide.</p>
I'd take Arenas to put on my team, meaning a GM view. Not only is he more talented and consistent, but the ticket and merch. sales are far greater. Though, I would choose Chauncey to lead a young team over Arenas in any situation where a PG is needed.
