I think it will get done, but I also agree that there is no reason this shouldn't have been signed yesterday. Here is a look back through recent years when stars signed their extensions. I will include some of our non stars as well. Deron Williams signed his extension last year about 10 days after the official signing period. (July 18th) Chris Paul signed his the first day (July 9th) Danny Granger didn't sign his until Oct. The day before the cutoff (Oct 31st) Martell Webster was also extended close to the deadline. (Oct 30th I think) Dwight Howard signed his about a week after the official signing period started (July 12th) Emeka Okafor signed on July 31st Luol Deng July 30th Iggy was extended around Aug 11th Lebron James July 9th Dwayne Wade July 13th Chris Bosh July 14th Travis Outlaw Oct sometime as well I think Just a quick list. The dates might be a day off on a couple, but regardless, they are really close. It shows that only a couple of players were extended the day of, and most were a week later. Some even the following month
Wrong. Quick "The Douche" reports Millsap story. Plausible story. Scenario fits within the known universe. Passes the "smell test". Potential positive outcome. Posters react to the possibilities. Debate the ramifications. Quick "The Douche" reports Roy extension story. Not plausible. Wrong or missing data. Doesn't pass the "smell test". Some posters stay calm. Some posters freak out, start calling KP a douche based on a single unattributed report from a known "easily confused by the facts" reporter. See the difference?
This isn't the first time people chose to believe one of Quick's stories and not others. This one was simply an example.
One report contradicts common sense, one doesn't. Quick is probably not wrong in every single thing he reports, he's just a questionable source. When he reports something that makes no sense at all, the "Quick is wrong" probability goes up. That's all. On every report he offers, each person can decide how likely they think it is, considering both Quick's reputation and the objective likelihood of the story itself. One doesn't have to either condemn Quick on every report or believe him on every report in order to be internally consistent.
That's fine. I just find the constant Quick bashing to be going a little too far, especially after the contract article. (And oh yes, it's a BASHING)
Are you the guy that acts clever but never adds anything to the discussion? I've taken my fair share of shots are both writers, just in this scenario, I think it's a bit ridiculous.
I recall people bashing Pritchard because he passed on Sessions and Millsap. Any other GM in Portland's history, and we would have said "wow, who saw that coming?" Pritchard is expected to be Jesus Christ, and people flip when he doesn't predict the quality of a second round pick. Maybe he is human after all. Either way, I can give the man the benefit of the doubt for a little while based on what he's already done for this team. He's no unknown quantity now, and I imagine that means his part will be a little more difficult when dealing with the rest of the league. People hear a rumor, and they think it has to be achievable. They assume that every GM in the league is reasonable, or perhaps value their own players less than we do ours. Perhaps Pritchard does overvalue our guys. Maybe he does try to hold out for something better, and ends up losing out on opportunities. If Portland ends up with nothing else, or Roy or Aldridge end up prepping for free agency next year, then I'll be disappointed. But I can hold on to my emotions for a little while longer. There's nothing to suggest that Portland is NOT trying to make some moves. I honestly didn't expect Roy or Aldridge to be taken care of until after a move was made. I'd be absolutely surprised if they didn't extend.
Good point. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to view *both* stories as bogus. I would like the Millsap story to be true, but considering the source.......
Do you think Zach needed to go, to let LMA develop? If so, what should KP have gotten for Zach? For what? How did he screw up. What would you have done better? Back it up or quit embarrassing yourself.
